Norby endorses Shawn Nelson for supervisor

November 23rd, 2009, 11:54 am · 2 Comments · posted by Jennifer Muir

Orange County Supervisor Chris Norby has endorsed Fullerton lawyer Shawn Nelson to succeed him as the county’s fourth district supervisor.

Nelson is Norby’s first endorsement since winning a special election last week for Assembly. Norby will advance to a runoff to fill the seat vacated on Sept. 9 by Mike Duvall, who resigned after being caught bragging about having an extramarital affair with a lobbyist. If he wins, he’ll vacate his supervisor seat early.

Norby could not immediately be reached for comment. Here’s what Norby he said in a press release sent from Nelson’s campaign:

“Shawn Nelson is a man of principle and a natural leader. Since Shawn joined the Fullerton City Council in 2002 I have watched him lead on issues of importance to the taxpayers in North Orange County including fiscal restraint, limited government, property rights and personal accountability. Shawn Nelson is the right person at the right time to take on the challenges facing the Orange County Board of Supervisors. I proudly endorse Shawn for the office of Orange County Supervisor 4th district.”

Nelson is not the only candidate that has had Norby’s support. The supervisor endorsed Anaheim Councilman Harry Sidhu when Sidhu ran for Senate last year. Both Nelson and Sidhu attended Norby’s election night party in Fullerton last week.

Hope he loses! If it were me and Norby was endorsing me, I would run away really fast. I wouldn’t want to be associated with a man who sleeps in the bushes.

I like how Norby thinks he has already won. I also like how the biased OCR doesn’t even mention the name of the Democrat Norby will face John MacMurray on Jan 12th. I know that it is likely that Norby will win, be to not mention the other candidates name is extremely one sided, status quo for the Register.
