Schwarzenegger requests ACORN investigation

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger wrote Attorney General Jerry Brown a letter today urging the state Department of Justice to investigate ACORN’s activities in California. ACORN, of course, is the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, an anti-poverty group under fire from conservatives for its election efforts and use of federal money.
“Over the past few days, I have seen a series of news stories regarding the ACORN organization that have concerned me greatly,” Schwarzenegger writes, noting that one report has come out of San Bernardino. “Given this, I believe it is appropriate that your office launch a full investigation into ACORN’s activities in California.”
ACORN has a small Orange County office in Santa Ana, but in Register reporter Martin Wisckol’s three visits - including today - he’s never seen people there or the door unlocked. When he rang the phone number, it went to voice mail.

San Bernardino yesterday, I wonder if it will be San Diego or Chula Vista tonight. Breitbart mentioned the border yesterday.
The big question is when the associated press will stop protecting ACORN. The only story from them has been the Brooklyn NY video and of course they wrote the story to paint ACORN as the victim.
Notice the OC register has not reported the first four videos from Baltimore, DC, Brooklyn, and San Bernardino.
Will the last in the series be Chicago, home of President Obamas employment with ACORN?
I like how it’s an “anti-poverty” group. Who isn’t anti-poverty? Where are the pro-poverty groups? lol.
The only way they are anti-poverty is b/c our government gives them millions of our tax money every year!!

The OC Register would get this from the wires (AP, Rutter’s, etc). The wires are big fans of left causes so it will take pain like a root canal for them to report against their political ideology.
I wonder if California or any counties support Acorn with funds, like the federal government. If this reporter knows or any one that reads this, I would like to know. What I read is the organization goes by different names to protect the parent organization.

Now at least 5 offices are on VIDEO TAPE assisting an undercover pimp and prostitute to commit tax fraud and set up housing for underage, immigrant sex. And you call that “under fire from conservatives? Go do your freaking job and report on this story honestly and truthfully. It’s “local” now, please try some investigative journalism for gods sake.
Yup, San Diego was reported today. That’s two so far in CA. Elections are coming…and the people will speak at the polls. If ANY politician does not call for immediate investigations into this ACORN mess, then they should be added to the investigation too. There are plenty of name being named and the money trail is very long, very wide, and very deep.
What is wrong with the OC Register. The buz at work is all about this ACORN thing, yet there is nothing in the Register or on CBS, ABC or NBC. What is going on? I have never thought this before, but I am begining to think that maybe there is some sort of conspiracy here. I thought that these organizations were about reporting the news. I had to turn on Fox News to find out what was going on. I never watch Fox News. I guess I’ll be watching Fox News from now on. Wow, what a bunch of low life sleeze bags these ACORN people are. Is our state government the same way. I guess we will see. If they close ACORN down, then maybe they aren’t, but if they don’t, then my faith in there being any decency in Sacramento will be gone.
So somebody did a Candid Camera set-up, some employees handled it badly, and editing the film can make them look bad (as always). Where’s the scandal?
If someone came into any office dressed for Halloween in 1970’s “pimp & ho” costume, most of them would laugh, some would play along for a while to find out what their game is, some would just kick them out. Visit enough Acorn offices, and you’ll get enough material to edit into whatever you want to show.

While you’re watching the excerpts again, notice that the Acorn lady says “You’re a performance artist.” She knows what’s going on. Do you really think people in those neighborhoods haven’t seen a real pimp or two? Does that kid look like one?

Jerry Brown? Isn’t the former mayor of Oakland (hotbed of ACORN activities) who may have benefited from ACORN exclusively registering Democratic voters (threw the Republican registrations out!). Now if he wants to run for governor, this is his chance to shine, and go after the goose with the golden (Democratic voters) eggs.

ACORN was set to get $7.4 BILLION in stimulis money, from the Federal government. They were also going to “help” with the census. Fortunately, that isn’t going to happen now. We haven’t heard anything from Obama. Remember, he said that ACORN would have “a seat at the table” in his administration. It doesn’t get any better than this.
Now ACORN will have to go in via the back door alone with Ayers, Wright and the flocks of lobbyists.

Congrats. Multi-trillion-dollar wars for nothing and bailouts for crooks go by with no accountability for anyone. A few stinking million for ACORN gets killed by a prankster video.
Just because I have a few minutes, I’ll try to explain this to the very few who might care.
ACORN has really bugged the Reps for a long time because it fights sub-prime lenders, foreclosure rescue scams, and other such Rep activities. The Reps view it as a partisan organization because it tries to relieve the poor from the ravages of the rich, which as we all know is an anti-American thing to do.
It has also engaged in voter registration, registering a lot of poor people who tend to vote Dem.
I’m sure there’s some sloppiness and corruption in ACORN too, as there is in any large organization.
Now, EVERY voter registration project has huge numbers of errors and fraudulent forms turned in, due to the kind of people who tend to work at that. It’s poorly paid, and attracts people who can’t get a job elsewhere. ACORN naturally had a big proportion of errors and fraudulent forms turned in by their employees. ACORN caught most of them internally, not all. BFD.
For comparison, this applies to Rep registration projects too. But the Reps pay such a high bounty for Rep registration that the incentive for fraud is very high. Employees often change the “party” choice on the form to Rep to get paid.
ACORN does lots of other things, like assisting with tax filing, for which they’ve been getting some federal money, which of course bugs the hell out of Reps, so they’ve targeted ACORN for anything that they can do to them.

The more interesting parts of it have been shown on all the cable news networks, with Fox predictably trumpeting it, over the last few days. Others have let it slide lately, seeing what a joke it is, I suspect.
If you really look at that and believe that the kid could pass for a pimp, I don’t know what to say to you. You really need to get out more.
The worst it shows about some ACORN employees is that they had some time on their hands and yielded to the temptation to play around with these people, maybe curious to see what their game was.
It was a mistake, of course. They gave the prankster enough material to edit it down and show what he wanted to show.
The prankster has yet to release the unedited video, and ACORN is suing.
At least 15 state are investigating ACORN for voter fraud. Over 30 ACORN employees have either been arrested or have pleaded guilty to voter fraud and other crimes. Assisting in tax filing? Those tapes that were shown, demonstrated that they were giving out advice to avoid taxes and cheat the government, while taking government money.
The tapes show nothing at all until you see them unedited. It’s likely that he used voice-overs, spliced different quesions in front of the answers he wanted for them, etc.
“Employees” in voter registration are usually very temporary workers who are paid by the piece. Not a regular employee as one usually thinks of them.
Brian, why your newspaper did not cover Acorn scandal? Even LA Times did it five days later.
We had a full-page story in yesterday’s newspaper.
