Rep. Dana Rohrabacher became one of only seven Republicans today to vote in favor of a resolution chastising South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson for his now-famous “you lie’ remark during President Barack Obama’s health reform speech last week.
The vote was 240-179. It was largely a party-line vote with 12 Democrats voting no and seven Republicans voting yes. Besides Rohrabacher, the rest of the Orange County delegation voted along party lines.
I wasn’t surprised. Rohrabacher, who was sitting behind Wilson the night of the president’s speech, told me that night that he thought his colleague’s action of saying “you lie’ when Obama said the health care bill wouldn’t cover illegal immigrants was “rude and inexcusable.”
“I think that unfortunately my Republican colleagues got sucked into playing low brow politics and we should have taken the high road,’’ Rohrabacher told me a few minutes ago. “The high road is you maintain decorum in the House and you don’t want to have a president treated any differently than if Ronald Reagan was delivering the speech.’’
Rohrabacher is one of the staunchest anti-illegal immigrant lawmakers in the House. This wasn’t about the issue, he said. He agreed with Wilson that Obama was wrong that the bill doesn’t ban illegal immigrants from getting benefits.
“People are looking for people who have solid values and p;rinciples and you don’t do that by playing political games like this,” Rohrabacher said. “Joe was wrong. He should have apologized and it would have been over.”
‘The resolution is very short. It says: “Whereas the conduct of the Representative from South Carolina was a breach of decorum and degraded the proceedings of the joint session, to the discredit of the House:
“Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the House of Representatives disapproves of the behavior of the Representative from South Carolina Mr. Wilson, during the joint session of Congress held on September 9, 2009.”
This was officially a “resolution of disapproval.” There are three levels of punishment for a House member who does something their colleagues believe is wrong. He or she can be reprimanded, censured or expelled. This resolution was even less than a reprimand.
Minority leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said on the floor that the vote was a “partisan stunt” and that the House should be debating health care instead of taking up this resolution.
Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said the “issue is whether we are able to proceed with a degree of civility and decorum that our rules and our democracy contemplate require.”
Good for Mr. Rohrbacher–that is why he’s one of the few Republicans I vote for–I don’t care how you feel about Obama–what Wilson did was degrading to the office of the Presidency. With all the vitriole the Democrats had towards Bush, not once did they heckle him in Congress.
Wilson is a disgusting, racist piece of trash–he would never have done that to a white president–never.
Well, he reinforced the worst stereotypes people have of South Carolina.
Well the former head of the Dem party in SC says it wasn’t racist and he’s known him for many years. He said it would have happened no matter who it was. He was also quoted as disagreeing with Carter on that.
So I’ll take the word of a Dem leader who has known him for many years in his home state who says he doesn’t believe it was racist, that he would have done it with anyone in similar circumstances.
So his outburst was inappropriate but, contrary to those who don’t know him and who like to jump to conclusions, it wasn’t racist.
You’re talking about the same guy who voted to keep the Confederate flag in the State capital, and is a “son of the confederacy.”
He’s a racist.
The only racists out there are Democrats.
So what, that is part of our history. Are we going to wipe out our history. Just because it was part of a history that was difficult does not mean it is a bad symbol. Good grief, you people are idiots. How about what we did to the Irish when they came over here? “Irish need not apply,” they could not get jobs! The Irish aren’t being a bunch a cry babies about how they were treated. And in many cases they were treated just a badly as the slaves when they were employeed as servants in the “Upper Class” homes. Instead of trying to keep things stired up, why not try to put some sanity out there. Stop the stupidity.
you had to reach too far for that argument.
Rude is right. I think is was disrespectful and made republicans look boorish.
Worst thing is that it gave the dems the high road.
Nice going Joe, you southern redneck.
ocfan: I’m with you on all counts/
**Not to mention reinforcing the worst stereotypes people have about Republicans!
ocfan: “With all the vitriole the Democrats had towards Bush, not once did they heckle him in Congress.”
No, ocfan, you are flat wrong about the Dem’s never heckling Bush43 during a speech before Congress.
I agree that Wilson was out of line, but not only did the Dem’s heckle Bush during a speech to a joint session of Congress, they heckled him during the State of the Union speech. TWICE!!!
Democrats Heckled Bush During Speeches; Harry Reid Called Him A Liar
In 2004, Democrats delivered a “Chorus Of Boos” during Bush’s Bush’s State Of The Union when he called for renewal of the Patriot Act., according to the Washington Times.
In 2005, Dems howled, hissed and shouted “No!” when Bush pushed for Social Security reform in the SOU: “Foreshadowing the contentiousness of the coming debate, Democrats broke decorum and booed twice,” according to the National Journal.
At the time, CNN’s Bill Schneider remarked, “It was unusual. I had never heard it at least at that level before. The Democrats clearly were booing, heckling, saying no when the president talked about the crisis in Social Security.”

http://www.thehotjoints.com/2009/09/10/hey-democrats-you-heckled-bush/
Shouting and booing during the annual SOU is a much bigger offense than heckling during Obama’s made-up speech for the bully pulpit. It’s the difference between the Super Bowl and a pre-season exhibition match.
-Darth
When is a President’s speech not “made up”? When does one wrong justify another? Apparently when a Republican disses the Office of the President, when a Democrat is holding that office.
Very sad. I wonder if you teach your children these kinds of lessons. If so, I pity us all.
Excuse me SteveC, have you ever watched the English Parliament? Why are we so thin skinned? So afraid to tell Obama he is not telling the truth, when he fact, he wasn’t telling the truth.
Darth - we should send this to EVERY ONE of those hypocrits on both sides of the fence, Dems and Republicans. ALSO, Jimmy Carter, who is going to have company- after Obama is voted out - he will not be in the WORST PRESIDENT category by himself.
Yes, the Democrats booed Bush, and the Republicans booed Clinton. But no one from either side of the aisle ever stood up and called either president a liar.
BS OCFAN! Get your facts straight.
You lie! That is not true!
It is people like you who keep the race card flying around. Try to write without using that word and see how it would sound. The race card is getting very, very old at this point…
Oh Please…when all else fails, it’s gotta be racism. What a weak, pathetic excuse for policies that run in the face of what this Country was built upon…If you have the courage to really explore “racism” in the Obama world, then clearly you’re prepared to defend why 90+% of all blacks voted for the “Chosen One”…If Barry Obama had been Barry O’Malley, a Chicago community organizer of Irish ancestory, he would have never made it out of the shadows of Wrigley Field…the fact is, the President is so completely out-classed by the job and so totally inadequate as a leader, that the Country is in panic over his incompetence….the rats are leaving the ship because of the stench, not the color of his skin….by the way, he’s mulatto…which means he’s every bit as much white as he is black…..and he’s still a complete, total failure.
Race…Race…Race…..Boy that gets old. Try to come up with something new. You and Jimmy Carter…idiots.
Well, you’re wrong on all counts and so is former President Jimmy Carter. The racism-based explanation is a convenient fall-back position, easily pulled-out to justify many unpleasant situations. I do agree Mr. Wilson should have kept his mouth shut. But his comment doesn’t mean he’s a racist. It means he exhibited a lack of decorum and failed to show respect for the position Mr. Obama was elected to.
And President Obama isn’t black; he’s half-black. Stop making this a race thing! His “blackness” has nothing to do with it!
Oh please ocfan this has NOTHING to do with race, so get off your race card crap!
Thank you Rep. Dana Rohrabacher for representing the ‘classier’ constituents in OC and having principles over party. Well done.
The bombardment of American fists at the doors of Congress must be heard, to make E-Verify a permanent illegal immigrant enforcement tool? It’s incredulous that we are winning small wars against our lawmakers beneficiaries–the special interest lobby. LEGISLATORS ARE FINALLY HEARING OUR ANGRY VOICES. Rep. Joe Wilson C-SC opened the eyes of millions of Americans, who are been left unaware of the cloaked–AMNESTY–committees that is going to rip the fabric of every voters life apart. I do not condone Rep.Joe Wilson (R-SC) outburst in the full Congress. But Rep. Wilson was–CORRECT! Unless there is some efficient mechanism to identify illegal immigrants applying for the government health care, such as revised E-Verify? They cannot be detected and delivered to ICE. Just indicating illegal immigrants wasn’t qualified in the wording is a waste of time, just like the billions spent on these people annually There’s also language in the senate bill that states that if one family member is an American citizen (anchor baby) then the entire household will be eligible for coverage. Any detail in the national media has been subdues or intentionally omitted, as with the crowds of Tea Party opponents. Sen. Harry Reid could be stretching his neck out for the headsman in his re-election campaign, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. They both have used their political influence in trying to overturn E-Verify. Pro-Illegal alien lawmakers could table it, under the “Sunset Provision” on September 30?
President Obama’s direction towards an unmentionable path to citizenship for all those who broke our law is abhorrent. After the controversial eruption in the Session of Congress, they surely must be aware that imposing immigration reform on the people could break them? Americans taxpayers are already supporting business welfare? Corporate entities want these destitute people here to exploit, but don’t want to pay for their health care, schooling or towards the massive numbers surviving in prison. They leave that to the fading middle class taxpayers who carry the tax burden? Over a decade has passed since illegal people started coming here in droves and with little or no laws, to blockade their arrival we are now talking over 20 million. Nor does it stop there? Owing to the clarion call of Amnesty ringing out in the slums and ghetto’s of foreign criminals, sick, elderly and those without means, from all over the world will descend on us. IT MEANS OVERPOPULATION?
Bad as it may be now, who is going to subsidize the new arrivals? Not the business cartels that’s for sure? Once again taxpayers will be heavily taxed to pay for the new shipment of poor, uneducated from every region. How can we expect to have any government public option for our own people, when our gates remain wide open for “Anchor Babies” and the illegal millions expecting a free handout? A nurse in a Nevada hospital indicated they have a row of beds of illegal immigrants on dialysis, which was costing weekly $18.000 dollars for each treatment. Tell me who pays for that? The US government pays a small portion; the rest is acquired from the hospital or taxpayer.
I want a single payer system for homeless veterans, seniors, single mothers with children and poor American families. But I refuse to pay for everybody who climbs, crawls under the fence or bluffs the Federal officer at shipping ports and airports of entry. It’s not our responsibility. DON’T WAIT! PESTER YOUR SENATOR OR REPRESENTATIVE TODAY AT 202-224-3121? Find true facts by GOOGLING NUMBERSUSA, JUDICIAL WATCH & IMMIGRATION COUNTERS
This is not about the issue of whether undocumented workers are covered by the President’s healthcare plan. This is about decorum. This is about respect. This is about civility. Congressman Wilson violated this in his rude interruption of the President’s address.
Maybe next time, Congressman Wilson will throw a shoe or maybe a tomato or maybe a bomb? Where does it end?
I hate to say it, but Congressman Rohrabacher is right. Congressman Rohrabacher understands the importance of rules and decorum and civility. Although I almost never agree with Congressman Rohrabacher, I very much thank him for his courage and his service.
You are absolutely wrong. E-Verify was opposed by Republicans in Congress and the US Chamber of Commerce. Where in the world do you get your information?
ocfan, you need to check your facts. The Dems in Congress often loudly and openly booed Bush in Congress.
Not the same, in fact, like comparing apples to concrete.
Republicans booed Clinton too, both sides cheered their respective leaders on issues of policy. Calling out “you lie” is a personal attack, which is not allowed in Congress. It’s in the rules. Personal attacks outside of congress by congresspeople is not strictly against the rules, but not the same as doing it in Congress.
What’s so hard about this?
Perhaps, etiquette would have favored “You’re wrong” to “You lie.” This way, deliberateness would not directly be placed on the president but, rather, allow for the possibility that he did not have all the facts.
How can you legally admonish somebody for telling the truth?
You are an american hero, Joe Wilson. Somebody has to call out these shysters in public. God bless you, sir!
Come to Cali. I will vote for you!
I love how the truth has all of a sudden become a Clinton like thing for the right, as in, what does “is” mean. The bill says it does not cover illegals. The beef with this is there is no official mechanism to check for status, meaning to the right that Obama wants to cover undocumented workers.
It’s not an outright lie on Obama’s part because the BILL IS NOT DONE being written and he’s saying that his intentions are that undocumented workers are NOT COVERED.
It was classes and baseless. Sure, you can justify the line “you lie” all you want but it doesn’t change FACTS. The bill hasn’t passed and illegals are not covered by the public option. And to top it off, the white house recognized this fear and have spoken about having such a process to insure undocumented workers aren’t covered! It’s called the process people and that’s why it takes time.
By the way, Thank you Rep. Rohrabacher, we appreciate you recognizing that even if you may not agree with Obama on the issue, you can agree that as a sitting President he does garner a certain amount of respect.
No, it does not mean to the right that Obama wants to cover undocumented workers. The fact is that at the time of the speech, there was no mechanism to verify that people are citizens. And a previous attempt to get one was shot down by Dems. So we are talking about the situation at the time of the speech.
Now reportedly the senate committee is working on a verification process–maybe because Wilson’s outburst and the resulting discussion called attention to the issue. But the fact that Dems had previously voted down verification, rather than that it just hadn’t been dealt with adds fuel to the argument that it was a lie.
So the outburst was classless, but NOT baseless!
No…it was classless AND baseless.
Buffalo Chips!
***You lie! LOL.
Heather you are correct, the Bill is not finished and it has not passed. Right again, no “official mechanism” to check status. (as of the speech)
Since there is no official mechanism, before the speech anyway, how can you assert “The bill says it does not cover illegals”, your exact words. I can’t find anywhere it actually states the no coverage claim.
Doesn’t it seem prudent to include an “official mechanism” if indeed the object was to keep coverage to citizens and legal residents? How would anyone know if the “intent” of the law was being followed? You have to have a method in the law, do you have a beef with that being included?
How can you trust a politician? Really, how?
Or just tell us what Bill you were reading and the page number please.
Exactly. You can’t trust any politician, regardless of their party affiliation. They’re only in it for their own power.
Does it really matter if the bill specifically forbids illegals from getting on the government bandwagon? Obama still wants to give them all amnesty and fast track them to citizenship. It no longer becomes an issue.
**You’re just making stuff up.
Is that the behavior you want to teach your children? A good family values person like you…? Hypocrite.
I guess that the House couldn’t find any ballplayers to testify on steroids and had to do something with their free time. Why bother with real issues. That’s too much like work. But if they do have some free time, they could at least try to read the health entitlement bill (not reform, it’s a new kind of fiscal slavery)
Why don’t you make it simpler and move to SC? Sounds like you’d be perfect there.
I’d add one note to the previous post - if we’re going to have to verify our citizenship in order to be covered by insurance (the “public option” or whatever), how is this verification to be accomplished? The only real way is by use of some sort of national identity card - just as the only sure way to “verify” eligibility to vote (the Holy Grail of the Right’s recent attempts to restrict access to the ballot box, in the face of a “threat” of voter fraud so nonexistent that the Bushies had to gin it up, and then fired US Attorneys who wouldn’t assist advancing the lie) is through such a card.
Think, all you supposedly freedom loving right wingers: do you really want legislation in place that moves us closer to having to create a national identity card? Isn’t that exactly the sort of big government / Big Brother stuff you’re supposed to be terrified of? How much of your nose are you willing to cut off to spite your face?
They’ll settle for warrantless wiretaps and data mining of our financial, employment, Internet, travel, and health records, etc.
I agree with ocobserver…..How can you admonish someone for telling the truth. I think OB would have no chose but to close loop holes allowing illegals to get health care. Illegals get welfare because a few years ago an attorney for ACLU went to court and said it would be humiliating for them to have to legal status. We can’t ask. If you don’t believe me ask mensarino, he’s a member of ACLU. anyway I think not showing ID would be a possible loop hole. Joe’s a hero
Joe’s a boorish idiot.
And a man who lacks integrity. After placing the apology call to Obama’s chief of staff, he told Fox he only did it because the Repub. leadership told him to. Where’s his personal responsibility?
Biden wins that contest, hands down.
**Nope. I think the Republicans have a lock on clueless Joes.
Impossible to go lower than Biden. Even bricks in the road are smarter than him.
And just wait until this awesome Congress settles the Kanye West situation! Now that is right up their alley.
rlh, There are other way to verify citizenship than a national ID just as those that are currently used. Have you heard of certified birth certificates? And then documents obtained from a verified citizenship such as passport.
Again more negative assumptions about reasonable points of view. The Dems seem afraid of requiring citizenship verification to register to vote and see it as an assault on voting rights. Well, duh, I think that rather than just saying that, that those of good will in both parties should be able to figure out a way to verify citizenship for those few individuals (who are likely becoming less and less) who do not have a birth certificate.
I would assume those would mostly be poor people in very rural areas like the South. I remember something about my Grandmother having to get alternate verification of birth/citizenship to get a passport. (She was born in 1875). I don’t know if she didn’t have a birth certificate, I suspect that may have been the case. I think they allowed other records such as baptismal records, family bible records and maybe affidavits by those who had known of the person’s birth. I don’t remember specifically, but they figured out ways in the past when it was more common than it likely is now.
So rather than just being obstructionists, the Dems should insted cooperate to figure out ways to verify citizenship for voting and for those who don’t have standard forms of ID, figure out alternatives thart would be considered reliable.
You have to get outside of your negative box and look for creative solutions and also stop impugning the motives of those you disagree with!
I can’t wait until you have a medical emergency and have to find your birth certificate before they allow you in an ER. Good luck!
You don’t have to show anything to get emergency care, it’s the law. Even children get treatment before a parent can give permission if the doctor determines it is in the best interest of the child.
Emergency care is different than health care insurance.
OC4truth, well said!
Well we do have a “national ID card” of sorts, your Social Security card. No picture but the number is easy to check with the E-Verify, another item the Dems oppose as oppressive.
Now I don’t need to hear about how the E-Verify is too slow, that’s nonsense. If you make a Workman’s Comp claim today you have to verify from a doctor what the injury was and how/where/when it happened. Before you get disability insurance money (SDI) a doctor must state that you cannot work. All that paperwork can take weeks.
Hey the BATF can clear your name to buy a firearm in minutes and a credit card verification takes seconds. E-Verify could be just as efficient.
I support the E-Verify because I believe when a person votes illegally someone else is getting oppressed with the weight of all the illegal votes, that cuts both ways.
What are you talking about? National ID Cards or showing ID to vote? These are 2 very different subjects matters.
But to your blah blah about birth certificates, President Obama posted his certified birth certificate on the internet, and there are still wackos who won’t believe he was born in Hawaii. First a national ID card, then what, check-points at every state line? Talk about government take-over.
Re: showing ID to vote, not necessary. About 1/3 of the population who can vote do, so if these folks are going to forego their civic duty, I say sell their voting opportunities to people around the world who realize how important elections in the U.S. affect the rest of the world. I dunno $20/vote x 100,000,000 (or so) eligible voters, that’s $2 trillion dollars. In Oregon, voting is mandatory, by mail, and no one has to show ID, but somehow, they get by.
There are only 12 million or so illegal aliens in the US. Make them citizens (pay a fine), stop the businesses and the groups like the US Chamber of Commerce from encouraging illegal immigration by placing a hefty penalty on the hiring of illegals, and ta da! Fewer illegals come into the country because there’s no more work.
And stop demonizing everyone you disagree with. Calling Dems obstructionists proves that your Truth is pretty hollow.
so an illegal immigrant from another country walks into a hospital 9 months pregnant, in labor, what do we do?……..
Deliver the baby. Keep the mother and the baby in the hospital until they are fit to catch a plane home.
Further on verifying ID for benefits. Voting is too important to allow the possibly voting of those who are not entitled to vote. We’ve already had cases where there was some real suspicion that people who were not citizens voted. And with activists like Nativo Lopez around who was charged with encouraging people to register and I think in some cases vote before their citizenship went through. With those who don’t seem to see any difference between legal residents and illegals ones or citizens for that matter and who encourage undocumented people to demand rights, it is not a stretch to be concerned about some of them voting or attempting to vote.
And BTW, I am not a rabid anti-illegal immigration person. I happen to have friends who are undocumented. And I have decried comments on the OCR that jump to the conclusion that anyone mentioned with a Spanish surname is an illegal immigrant from Mexico. I haven’t noticed that you can tell a person’s immigration status just by looking at them or seeing their name, nor can you tell their country of origin.
do they cut your lawn?
According to the LA mayor, they clean our toilets.
Or clean your pool?
Obama Lies and Lies, Obama is creating racism!
That’s productive. I hope you don’t plan to breed.
Good for Dana Rohrabacher. Whether or not the president was telling the truth is beside the point. The RULES OF CONGRESS dictate that what Wilson did was wrong. He could have cleared it up by apologizing to his colleagues, but he refused. Therefore the rebuke. Simple as that.
As to the discussion about illegal immigrants getting healthcare… we don’t even have a final bill yet. Even after/if healthcare reform passes, they can still go to any hospital emergency room and get treatment for free. It’s what we do here in this so-called “Christian” country. We don’t let people die just because they can’t afford medical attention (or we shouldn’t).
So stop being such useful idiots to big insurance and the politicians that support them, and realize that YOU will benefit healthcare reform.
Please wake up before it really is too late.
Why dont you pay for my healthcare, i need rent too!
obama said the health care bill wouldn’t cover illegal immigrants. so my question still isn’t answered, AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT GOES TO THE HOSPITAL 9 MONTHS PREGNANT IN FULL LABOR what do we do?
We add another American citizen to our rolls!!
Dear Debbie,
We deliver the baby, comfort the mother, and along the way offer the best medical care we can. Because this is America, and that is how we’re supposed to do things.
the fools that we are…
Deliver the baby. keep the babay and the mother in the hospital until they are reay to catch a plane home.
Rohrabacher does something, however meaningless, right for once. Now, Rohrabacher and Congress needs to work on some sort of meaningful health care reform.
First there is no bill. It is a House Resolution, thus HR…get it, House Resolution?!! HR 3200 most certainly does allow coverage for illegal aliens. First, it does not require proof of citizenship to obtain health services…kind of like now. (pages 50, 51, 143) Second, it requires that one family member is covered, all are covered…anchor babies?!! (page 133) Third, it requires free translation services and interpreters to those who are not proficient in English…also kind of like now. (pages 408-418, 782) You can access HR 3200 online. Go to the given page numbers for each of these and read it for yourself.
Trying to pin down this so-called bill is like using Jell-O as a hammer. There are endless committees, writing and re-writing in secret, mainly in jargon with loop-holes that would make ACORN happy. Instead of testing it on the country, test it on Congress and their families first. And they can’t buy any secondary insurance coverage!
Isn’t that what they’re supposed to do? Write legislation?
Some people need to watch much less Fox News, it’s scrambling your brains.
Rohrabacher is a toad. He’ll do whatever makes him popular at the moment. Right now he is about as un-popular as a republican can get so he’s going to side with the larger group. The bottom line is Democrats and Republicans are all liars. The Democrats are just better at it. You heard Bill Clinton- “Forget the Republicans” That’s exactly what he said and that’s what the Democrats and that Racist, Terrorist Barrack Hussein thinks. He doesn’t care about anyone who disagrees with him. He’s going to do what will help blacks and that’s all. This health care bill is as racist as you can get. It will help blacks the most and that’s why the Congressional Racist Black Caucus supports it 100%
**Pardon me dear. You sheet is showing.
I thought Obama was a socialist/facist and you’re the racist? I’m really confused…
AMAZING! The House voted on something that didn’t cost trillions! Nevermind the waste of time and grandstanding. And the most delightful aspect of this farce is that this “moral outrage” action will sooner-or-later bite their in their massive hindquarters when one of their self-righteous herd moos out some lunacy. Who will it be? Pelosi, the Queen of Astroturf? Maybe she can finally define “is” for America.
We are still talking about this.
A week later.
While Obama and his cohorts pull U.S. off a financial cliff.
Score one for the Dems.
Didn’t Rohrabacher barely get reelected?
I don’t think it’s necessary to make such a huge deal about this Wilson character yelling what he believes.
Mind you, I am a definite Democrat- but do believe in freedom of speech. Yes, he was inappropriate, but he also apologized, ok?
The House voting on something so miniscule, compared to our other HUGE problems, seems like a joke.
I KNOW we have better things to worry about other than someone’s temper tantrum. I don’t believe it’s necessary to castigate Wilson for this. Really??? How stupid. Yet another reason for the rest of the world to point and laugh at us. Haven’t we had enough of that??
Let’s focus on what is really going on- let’s get this economy going, let’s bring our jobs back, let’s give everyone the right to be healthy, let’s all just stop acting like kindergarteners.
This is stupid!. My Gosh this country has a history of shouting out antics and rightfully so when a President like Obama is destroying this country.
I’m ready for the duel next and that will be between the American public and Congress. Politicians need to get over this he can say what he wants and when he wants just like us.
Right on Theresa! And, you, as I am going to, should call Mr. Rohrabacher’s office and tell him. What an attention whore he is.
OBAMA=DEBT
Did Dana Rohrbacher ask for any apology and/or reprimand of the Dems who booed President Bush in 2005 in the same house?
It would be interesting to find out.
Truer words were never spoken.
Dana Rohrbacher is looking for Brownie Points - what he is going to get is a lot of less votes next time around from the people I have spoken with regarding his actions. And NO he never asked the Dems to apologize to President Bush when they were do rude, as they are calling this. So Mr. Rohrbacher don’t take a bow just yet!
so rude…. typo
I think it is just as rude and disruptive to stand and cheer. All of them should just sit on their hands, shut up and listen to president lie.
AC you are right. I will give anything in the world to be a congressman in the next Obama speech. I want to stand up and yell at the top of lungs “Messiah thou are the greatest”. Want to bet the democrats won’t mind that a bit. What a bunch of idiots.
Obama (Obummer) is the evil enemy & needs to be defeated any way possible.
its okay when the dems insult bush left and right. dems are a secular crowd who only believe their idealogue. bush was called a loser by harry reid at his acceptance speech. nancy pelosi called bush many names. it goes both ways. basically, we are already sick of this obummer guy. it has nothing to do with racism. that is just the easy excuse from a bunch of mindless liberals. obama must go.
You should really look of the definitions of “secular” and “idealogue” before trying to use them in a sentence.
Obama’s a liar ! Wow, does that make me a racist. NO!
Punished for speaking the truth, WOW !
I know huh billy bob. What a bunch of morons! What they’re to do is take the focus off this bill.
what!? a moment of sanity from a republican!? they’re gonna have to run dana out of the party. rino-rino-rino! this guy (wilson) called reports of strom thurmond having a love-child with a black woman a “smear” AFTER the family had admitted it was true. you don’t wanna stand with that guy, dana???? sure? sounds like dana’s gonna be retiring soon. he’s starting to have fits of rationality, or as right-wingers would say, he’s “going soft.” and to the IDIOTS trying to equate past behavior by dems to this, the offense was calling the pres a liar in the house, while they were in session and in fact with the man speaking, which effectively interrupted him w/o having the floor. you will not find a single instance of a member directly insulting the president on the floor of the house while in session and not getting some rebuke. booing or demonstrating is NOT the same.
He did apologize and that should be enough. I’m happy he did say it, at least some one has the GUTS.
With millions of uninsured Americans forced to pay to have insurance or be fined will be the final crippling beating this nation’s LEGAL citizens will suffer . Can you imagine how many more jails we will need to lock up the millions still unwilling to pay for healthcare. The only ones running around after that will be the rich that can afford it and the illegals that won’t pay for insurance anyway. Food for thought… I have never, ever seen the cost of my insurance policy go down for health or auto. Sheeple, this plan to force it down our throats is just what the insurance lobbyists want. Surrre, we’ll keep those costs low and affordable. Insurance Companies, Banks, Politicians… they are ALL in bed with the devil… Wake me up when the riots begin
Obama wasn’t giving a speech before Congress, he was campaigning in front of cameras hoping to gain public support for a failing government health care plan. That is what Obama does much of the time …. give speeches to support this Administration and Congress’ agenda.
And that is what angered everyone listening to him who does not support a government take over of our health care system.
Joe Wilson’s exasperation mirrored all of us who have studied the Health Care Bill and knew Obama’s claim that Illegals would not be covered was a half truth that we know equates to a LIE.
Democrats ignored Republican amendments to the Bill that would have included “enforcement procedures” to assure only American citizens be eligible for coverage. Without enforcement … the words claiming Illegals ineligible are absolutely moot. Therefore the President of the United States was trying to deceive the public …. with a half truth. And we all thought he was going to CHANGE politics as usual if elected.
If there was no applause during the speech, there would be no need for boos. The public deserved to know that the entire Congress was NOT applauding and approving of Obama’s campaign speech. How else would the public be aware that Obama did LIE when he claimed illegals would not be covered without Joe Wilson’s outburst?
The mainstream media sure hasn’t been informing the public of the whole truth. Instead they ridicule those who are trying to warn people, which is why people are turning to FOX for the entire story.
Joe Wilson exposed the lie, and in frustration to destroy the messenger, prominent Democrats are pulling out their tired “race card” again, in the hope to silence their opposition.
Unfortunately for Democrats and Obama … the public no longer “buys” that inaccurate argument.
This should not be a party issue, us against them. Something should have been done when the incident happened with Bush and something should have been done when it happened with Obama. These men held the position of the President of the United States. Wilson saying he is sorry or or even this resolution is weak. We need to forgive Mr. Wilson but he should not be in a position where he can do it again. Get him out of office!!!!!!!!!!
