Experts: Obama’s Kenya birth document fake

Monday’s news that Mission Viejo lawyer Orly Taitz allegedly had a copy of Barack Obama’s Kenyan birth registration is drawing out a steady stream of experts explaining why the document is a fake.
The most obvious errors cited in the apparent forgery:
The document has a Feb. 17, 1964, date and reads, “Republic of Kenya.” The date is explained by Taitz to be the day that the copy of the birth registration was issued. But while Kenya gained its independence in 1963, it was known as the Dominion of Kenya until Dec. 12, 1964, when it became a republic.
Also, Dan Branch, an assistant professor of African history at the University of Warwick, tells Salon that document’s header reading “Coast Province” is also a giveaway.
“I have not seen any documents from this period in early 1964 that uses the heading of Republic of Kenya — unsurprisingly given Kenya was not a Republic until December 1964,” Branch tells Salon. “Moreover, the label of ‘Region’ was being used in early 1964 instead of ‘Province.’ While some of the old colonial forms may have still been in circulation, which would have used ‘Coast Province,’ these would have been headed as ‘Colony & Protectorate of Kenya.’”
Branch also tells Salon that he’s been working in Kenyan archives of that period for the past eight years.

obamaconspiracy.org has a round-up of additional evidence against the legitimacy of the document, including a comparison of the alleged birth registration and an internet version of an Australian birth registration. It alleges that the Australian document was used as the base form for the forgery.

Why do these people keep trying? Do they hate Obama that much that they would go so far as to make up a birth certificate instead of finding out the truth, which so far has only been proven that he was born in Hawaii? Also, where did this Taitz get his degree so as to be so stupid to make mistakes like this? Seriously, do you even remember to breathe Mr. Taitz?
Mr Taitz is actually a Mrs. She is a dentist as well as a lawyer. Apparently not very good at either profession. I was never happy with her as a dentist for my child. The excuse I was lawyas give for hewr being over an hour tardy was always ‘you know she is alsoa lawyer’. Needless to say I called my dental plan and switched dentists today!!
You are sooooooo right she is bad at both, and double charges the insurance for dental bills, but we let the insurance company know and they had to deal with her. One wonders why someone like her is still in practice as a lawyer or dentist.

Not exactly up there with UCLA, Stanford and USC. Heck, even Western University School of Law runs rings around good ol’ William Howard Taft.
This ridiculous charade involving Obama’s biirth certificate over the last few weeks is an embarrassment to the GOP, both on a local and national level. Is this the best that they can do? Desperate times call for desperate measures, and this is the lowest of the low for what is left of what is becoming a right wing fringe party that is dying on the vine.

Why would a candidate hire a boat load of attorneys and spend and unknown sum to keep the public from seeing his certificate and college records if he had nothing to hide, and was entitiled to run for the office? Orange County has not voted for a Democratic presidential candidate since Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 1936 landslide re-election for a second term.
According to the Orange County Registrar of Voters, as of July 21st, 2009, Orange County had 1,599,889 registered voters. Of these, 43.6% (698,140) are registered Republicans, and 32.1% (512,853) are registered Democrats. An additional 20.2% (324,669) declined to state a political party.[15]
Orange County has long been known as a Republican stronghold and has consistently sent Republican representatives to the state and federal legislatures. Partisan voter registration patterns of Hispanics, Asians and other ethnic minorities in the county have tended to reflect the surrounding demographics, with resultant Republican majorities in all but the central portion of the county. When Democrat Loretta Sanchez defeated veteran Republican Bob Dornan in the congressional contest of 1996, she was continuing a trend of Democratic representation of that district that had been interrupted by Dornan’s 1984 upset of former Congressman Jerry Patterson. Until 1992, Sanchez herself was a Republican, and she is viewed as having moderate or even conservative positions on many issues.
Republicans have responded to the influx of non-white immigrants by making more explicit efforts to court the Hispanic and Asian vote. In 2004, George W. Bush captured 60% of the county’s vote, up from 56% in 2000, despite a higher Democratic popular vote compared with the 2000 election. Although Barbara Boxer won statewide, and fared better in Orange County than she did in 1998, Republican Bill Jones defeated her in the county, 51% to 43%. While the 39% that John Kerry received is higher than the percentage Bill Clinton won in both 1992 and 1996, the percentage of the vote George W. Bush received in 2004 (59.7% of the vote) is the highest any presidential candidate has received since 1988, showing a still-dominant GOP presence in the county. In 2006, Senator Dianne Feinstein won 45% of the vote in the county, the highest margin of a Democrat in a Senate race in over four decades, but Orange was nevertheless the only Coastal California county to vote for her Republican opponent Dick Mountjoy. In terms of voter registration, the Democratic Party has a plurality or majority of registrations only in the cities of Santa Ana, Stanton, and Buena Park.
The county is featured prominently in the book Suburban Warriors: The Origins of the New American Right by Lisa McGirr. She argues that the county’s conservative political orientation in the 20th century owed much to its settlement by Midwestern transplants, who reacted strongly to communist sympathies, the civil rights movement, and the turmoil of the 1960s in nearby Los Angeles — across the “Orange Curtain.”
In the 1970s and 1980s, Orange County was one of California’s leading Republican voting blocs and a sub-culture of residents to hold “Middle American” values that emphasized a capitalist religious morality in contrast to West coast liberalism that well existed there.
Orange County has a high portion of Republican voters from culturally conservative Asian-American, Middle Eastern and Latino immigrants. Some of these came as refugees from wars and dictatorships, and are strongly loyal to Republican anti-communist policies. The large Vietnamese-American communities in Garden Grove and Westminster are predominantly Republican; Vietnamese Americans registered Republicans outnumber those registered as Democrats by a rate of 55% to 22%. Republican Assemblyman Van Tran was elected to become the first Vietnamese-American to serve in a state legislature and joined with Texan Hubert Vo as the highest-ranking elected Vietnamese-American in the United States prior to the 2008 election of Joseph Cao in Louisiana’s Second Congressional District. In the 2007 special election for the vacant county supervisor seat following Democrat Lou Correa’s election to the state senate, two Vietnamese-American Republican candidates topped the list of 10 candidates, separated from each other by only seven votes, making the Board of Supervisors entirely Republican.

When you catch cancer or diabetes and your health insurance provider drops you or tells you that you have to pay thousands more because you have a pre-existing condition, are you just going say, “Wow, the free market is great. I sure am glad that my Republican friends kept the health care industry exactly like it is.”
I think that a lot of the clowns that post here aren’t aware that this country already have a socialized medicine program. Its called the VA and you and I pay for it. All of our veterans get free healthcare through the VA. Granted the program has faults but Obama has increased funding to the VA. Medicare is funded by a payroll tax and a monthly premium and if you have enough money you can buy a supplement.
Obama’s plan is not Socialized Medicine as the Republicans would like you to believe. The plan would be run by the Govt, but like Medicare you would still go to your own Docs, etc and to a certain point it would compete with the private insurance companies who are spending $1.4 million dollars a day to make sure that the American Public is scared into believing that Obama’s plan is Socialized Medicine and that its bad for you.

Really? All veterans get free healthcare at VA? Really? Are you certain about this? I hope you are - because if you are (as a veteran) I’d like to know why with every visit, I have a $20 dollar co-pay, have to pay a fee of $150.00 for every emergency room trip. For prescriptions I pay $15 co pay - depending on whether or not my meds are a “generic” or “name brand” and if they’re name brand - they could run as high as $350. This isn’t to mention, if I have to go to the lab or for x-rays or tests of any sort I have to pay either a fee of $35 or $65 dollars, depending on the kind of test that’s being done.
Keep in mind, this is just the generalization - because my care (along with my husbands care as well) is based on our annual income, so on top of these fees (that we don’t have a choice but to pay) in order to be seen, we also have to pick up forty percent of every medical bill we get from VA for services.
VA care is free for every veteran. Okay, do you feel like a jackass now - because if you don’t, you should!
We are veterans of this countrys military, we did our time - and are very, very proud of that fact. We DID NOT vote for Oscuma and we don’t like his choices - like most good Republican Christians (but until the people in this country) truly wake up and smell the coffee about what’s happening to our nation, the only thing that’s going to stop this idiocy from running rampant is another REVOLUTION!

Don’t these people understand that if Obama gets booted that we’re then stuck with Biden? A man who couldn’t even make it into the race? There won’t be any special election - give it a rest. My question is: Who is making up the Birth Certificates? We all assume but have yet to get the proof we all need.
I really think we need a neutral investigation.
The reason I question this story is because my son was born in 64 and I lived in Germany until my 7th month of pregnancy. I wanted my son to be born in the USA and was told I could not fly after my 7 Month. This is the same story told by Obama’s family in Africa according to some reports.
My other question is: Why did they make this law for the President’s position only. We are all immigrants except the Indian people. They need to change it, would solve this issue!
It’s because someone who is born and raised in the USA will have a better understanding of the true heart and soul of this nation than someone raised elsewhere. The Founding Fathers could see that (and, to their credit, at the time, it probably had much to do with maintaining American independence instead of a Brit in the Oval Office). There are so many things that set America apart culturally; it makes sense that the president who heads the nation should be a part of it in that way. Birth certificate or not, I think Obama falls short in that regard. Even if he’s legally American-born, he spent so many of his formative years overseas, absorbing very different cultural values than the apple-pie American set.
Why doesn’t President Obama simply release his long form birth certificate, his academic records from Occidental, Columbia and Harvard, his medical records, his passport records etc etc etc, and embrace the “TRANSPARENCY” that he campaigned on?

That’s simply untrue. President Obama has produced the same documentation that you would have to. Since when are you asked to show a long-form birth certificate for a job?
And that’s even besides the point. He HAS shown in full detail and full disclosure. What do you think that you just apply for the job of President, raise some funds, get on the ballot and win? You think there’s not the world’s most intense background check on anyone who wins the presidency?

I think by “resume,” JD was referring to more than the birth certificate - more along the lines of Obama’s academic records, passport records, etc. We know so little about what Obama’s past truly is because he refuses to release the records that would make that public (even when releasing them is standard operating procedure for a presidential candidate). McCain made all of that public. What does Obama have to hide?
It strikes me as particularly Orwellian that the man who proclaimed “transparency” all during his campaign is less transparent than his much-maligned predecessor. I mean, come ON! There’s even an audio clip of Obama criticizing Bush for not giving Congress enough time to study the PATRIOT Act, but then Obama pushed through his stimulus package and is pushing health care without giving Congress the proper time to review it and do their due diligence. Does that not strike you as odd?
Why do people keep repeating these urban legends that Obama never released his records, and McCain has? If I was like these birthers I could easily say McCain hasnt produced any records simply cause anything he’s produced I just discount as invalid.
The story does seem a bit sketchy, but this does raise a good point. As American citizens, we should have a right to view his original birth certificate. So, where is it? Is there a reason that amidst this controversy, it has not been brought forward?

Steve, I believe that Obama, while being the 44th elected President, is in fact the 43rd individual to serve as President. Grover Cleveland was elected to two separate terms as the 22nd and 24th President. That makes for 44 elections, 43 men. Obama is the 43rd individual President.
Warren, I agree. The question has arisen during discussion and should be answered. This is definitely not a racist or religious issue. Even Arnold Schwarengerr (spelling?) was presented with this discussion while running for Governor of California. Since he is not American born, additional questions were presented, and he answered them.
Readers, it is a good idea to keep the emotions away from these conversations. Keep in mind that in the U.S. we have something called “Freedom of Speech”.

Could it because it contains stuff he’d rather that the public not be reminded of, i.e. that his father’s religion would be listed as “Muslim?” Or that people will see that Anne Dunham was barely 18 when Barry was born, and that Barack Sr. had sex with an underage girl, while he was married to someone else?
Note also that Obama’s transcripts from Occidental and Columbia have been sealed. The supposedly “stupid” George W. Bush allowed the public to see his very mediocre SAT scores and his “gentleman’s C” average from Yale. How about it Barry? or are you hiding something?

What I find most funny, is that the same reasonings the so-called “experts” are using to discredit the Birth Certificate from Kenya, are the same reasonings the “birthers” use to discredit the Hawaiian Birth Certificate.

For the love, WHY is it that anyone who criticizes or disagrees with Obama is “racist”?! I am so SICK of hearing that epithet thrown around. Look, there are plenty of us who wholeheartedly dislike Obama and his policies, and it doesn’t have a single thing to do with the color of his skin.
For crying out loud, I could care less if he was black, white, Asian, Latino, Native American, whatever - if the man is trying in true community organizer fashion to overwhelm the system and dramatically alter the fundamentals of this nation that I love , then I’m going to fight tooth and nail against the man. That has to do with staying true to the America our Founding Fathers established and for which so many have given their lives.

it’s funny how people can mistake a 4-year (one election cycle) anomaly with a general, or overall trend. there were three very key factors that played a part in the turnout for 2008. I don’t need to mention what they are, you can figure it out on your own. let’s just say the entities with a lower approval rating than Bush at the end of his second term were the state legislature and the U.S. Congress - both Democratic.
First, only a certificate of live birth could be provided to suggest any evidence of having been born in Hawaii. Then, lo and behold, someone made up a birth certificate in the last couple of weeks that doesn’t match the format of any other birth certificates from that period. Now, others are using similar arguments as those that question the Hawaiian certificate against a Kenyan certificate. The point is that maybe the Constitution rules him out as President and whether you support him or not, we need to get to the bottom of this. Note that he claimed to be foreign born to get his college scholarships that list him as a foreign aid student.

Why can’t our government , or even the media, just take this alleged Kenyan birth certificate and have it examined by some true independent forensic experts like from the FBI. If it is a fraud, then prosecute all those involved and end this business once and for all.
I do think Obama should have to produce his ORIGINAL birth certificate too. The thing he showed on his website is not a true copy of the original. As an immigrant to this country, I know it is very common to have discrepancies between the original birth certficate and the certificate of live birth (COLB) issued by the state after one had gained entry into this country. So if there is an original birth certificate available, then it should be the document of choice in these legal matters, which by the way, is the current law in most states including Hawaii. Except this law doesn’t seem to apply to Obama. Why can’t he just show it? Why does he have to spend millions of dollars fighting so many lawsuits in several states to block people from seeing his original birth certificates?
I don’t think this is a matter of Republicans versus Democrats. The person who first brought this up last year and fought it all the way to the US Supreme Court is Philadelphia District Attorney Phil Berg who is a life-long Democrat and a Clinton operative. This is a fact! You have to understand about who had the most to lose at that time. It wasn’t McCain. The mainstream media is brain dead!

I also disagree that we should just say, insurance is a business. They are dealing with life and death issues. The only people who should be in the health care business are health care professionals. Letting Cigna and United Health and Aetna and Kaiser reap profits while many go sick and dying is not the best thing for our country.

As a veteran of this country, a staunchly (conservative) right wing (radical) Republican I will say this. I did NOT vote for John McCain. I had many issues with him (as a person) that would NOT allow me to support his bid for President. I also did NOT vote for Obama (Oscuma) as I like to call him!
As a Native American, my issue with this man, isn’t race. My people had their country taken from them - by white Anglos - as we still call them - that forced us basically into a corner, leaving us with nothing!
