He should get a BCD, he broke the rules. The Military is made up of rules and that what makes it. He broke them to make a statement about his sexuality so now he has to pay the price. In my opinion he’s not much of a “TEAM” player.

I personally respect the “don’t ask don’t tell” policy but on the other hand I don’t think it should really matter if someone is willing to risk their life for our freedom.

Of course they should be allowed to serve. The existing policy is repressive and backward and hurts our country.

Have you ever served in the military? No? Then you need to know that there are separate facilities/berthing for males and females. If gays are allowed to serve openly then why can’t straight men be allowed to shower/sleep in female quarters?- Because it WOULD CREATE A HUGE DISRUPTION AND CAUSE MAJOR PROBLEMS….rendering the military inefficient….

      well said. I agree 100%.
By the way..what happened to my right to not be exposed to these individuals. Another male watching your ass while you work..get real. If he/she is in gender identity crisis they should keep it to themselves. I have served and do know close quarters and I also have seen what happens when a unit “discovers” a member is gay either through self-admission or discovery. It has created disciplinary problems within a unit…individuals get transferred quietly etc..
In addition, I have to agree with OC gator… this officer graduated from West Point and so was well versed in the policies surrounding this issue..not only as a member of the Armed Forces..but also as an Officer with all the responsibilities that go with that including following the rules..for which you have sworn an oath.
You can ” Be all you can be” just outside of the US Military, maybe this occured because of the recent Presidential Election and this is the first military test with this officer hoping for a more politicaly favored environment. We’ll see how this goes. I side with the military..rules are rules and he was aware of them as a commissioned officer and as a veteran enlisted-man.
Good luck as a civilian :).

What “consenting” adults do in “private” should be kept as such. I don’t want to know what’s going on in anyone’s private life. I don’t understand the need to disclose.
