Ann Coulter got bumped from a scheduled NBC appearance (and then rescheduled), but the resulting brouhaha helped get her and her new book more press than if she’d gone on air as originally planned. She has ardent fans - especially in Orange County, where her Feb. 5 lecture and book signing is sold out. She’s coming to the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda as part of her publicity tour for her book, “Guilty: Liberal ‘Victims’ and Their Assault on America.”

If every single one of us would take a long, hard look in the mirror, and HONESTLY evaluate our own actions, opinions, prejudices…..just maybe we’d all understand that the human race is a pathetic species.

This isn’t a case of liberal bias on the part of NBC, it’s a case of Coulter pushing his/her luck to far in a quest for sensational, shocking sound bites. That’s the reason why she comes off so crass in interviews, and that’s the reason why NBC banned her. She’s like the Howard Stern of the neo-con movement; she thrives off scandal and contraversy because without, nobody outside of OC would pay attention to her.

So you should understand true science, sea ice is basically frozen sea water usually creating a glacier. Sea ice that is above water has less salt than the ice that is below. So the ice that is above the sea is “fresher”, fresh water is less dense than salt water, so when it melts it takes up a lager volume of area than the ice alone. So using your Archimedes principle experiment with fresh water doesn’t apply.
Additionally, much of the ice that is melting is fresh water, that is either shelf ice that broke off of a larger piece or ice that is frozen on land which is above sea level. This water melting will go directly in the ocean, displacing sea water and increasing the sea level. For example places like Greenland and Antarctica are losing massive amounts of ice.
Furthermore, the ice and snow that had been typically located on mountain tops year round are now melting at a much more rapid pace and adding to sea levels.
Finally, snow and ice is basically white so it is reflective….the less snow and ice we have the more heat the planet absorbs. This heat changes the temperature of the water that is at the bottom of the sea and changes how it flows and circulates through out the world. This can cause all kinds of changes to storm patterns and an increase in the number of large storms such as hurricanes.
So, I just thought I would give you a little science lesson related to “Gobal Warming” so you have a better understanding of how science works in the real world and not in your kitchen.

Water is water when you are comparing the same types of water. Have you ever seen pictures of people floating in the Dead Sea? I know you have problems with people from the Middle East, but check the pictures out. Humans float very easily in the Dead Sea than they would any a freshwater lake. Why? Because they are more buoyant! Why? Because, the water is a high concentration of salt and therefore things float easily on top of it.
The ocean isn’t any different. That is why when sea ice freezes it can create ice bergs and not just go flat like on a lake. What density means is that the sea water is heavier (weighs more) than the same volume of fresh water. Basically a 1 gallon container of sea water will weigh more than a 1 gallon container of fresh water. So when you add fresh water to sea water the water becomes more diluted and spreads out more.
Even if the earth is in a normal cycle, shouldn’t we do all we can to decrease the amount of warming? It would be illogical to say that humans have had no effect on the environment. We do know that the planet has warmed greatly over the last few hundred years. We do know that humans have greatly changed the way we live and done many changes to the environment over the last few hundred years. There is no 100% way of knowing which is having a greater effect. Therefore, isn’t logical to do all you can to slow things down? Buy ourselves a little insurance policy and try to stem the tide of the negative effects of a warming planet.
To completely dismiss it as nothing more than a natural event seems very myopic.
Im not sure if there are more polar bears than ever before. I don’t know if anyone knows the what the total population is. Polar bears are currently listed as a vulnerable species, mainly due to the decrease in the amount of polar ice. So the threat to the melting of global ice is a direct threat to polar bears. The point of issues with global warming are about what may happen and not what is happening at a precise moment in time. Again, it is all about having an insurance policy.

And that is a logical fact of pure science that can be seen in the kitchen!! That just isnt correct. I found this quote that explains it a bit better.

I wasnt saying that the dead sea is exactly like the ocean, I was just point out that all water isnt the same. Some water is more dense than other water.
Lets put floating glaciers aside. What about land ice like that on Antarctica or Greenland. This is frozen water that is on top of rock/land. If this ice melts there is no displacement. It is just water being added to the sea level. The same goes with melting snow and ice in mountainous regions throughout the world that have never melted.
Im not arguing that global warming is a natural event. I am just stating that I dont believe it is only a natural event. That we humans have had an effect on the environment and should change our habits.
As far as the Nobel Prize is concerned, it is given out by the Swedish, so I dont know if it is “our greatest award”. Gore shared the prize with another environmental organization and was one of 181 nominees, including Orpah. It was probably a political statement, but I guess to the Swiss it was an important one.

I mean no disrespect, but you are just wrong about sea water vs. freshwater, but we can disagree. I do appreciate a good debate though, and the fact that you can have a civil disagreement.
As far as clouds are concerned you are right. The earth has all the water, that it will ever have. The problem with that argument is how it is displaced. The less water you have frozen as ice, the more water that it has to go elsewhere.
Meaning, if you have no ice pack in the ocean, which leaves larger areas of water that will be evaporated into the sky and become storm clouds. That is what I was alluding to earlier about increased storm activity like hurricanes and tropical storms. The more storms you have the more catastrophes you will see through out the world.
So with an increase in temperature you will see more storms in areas that dont need them and more droughts in areas that do need the rain, such as here in So Cal.
The other bad news about water is that since we have a limited supply of it, but we an increase of population, we will eventually run out of it unless we learn how to conserve it and reuse it….but I know that is just a bunch of lefty-enviro mumbo jumbo.

Ann Coulter is not worth anyone’s time. Her ideas are small and lack any real depth of thought especially for those she insults with her shallow diatribe. She lives for the battle that her comments bring but quite frankly, I feel sorry for someone who uses others and their misfortunes for self aggrandizement. She has done nothing of substance and if her witting is any indication of what she is about, she never will.
