A retired sheriff’s captain testified today that empty files — which should have contained personnel records — were kept for ex-sheriff Mike Carona, and assistant sheriffs Don Haidl and George Jaramillo at Sheriff’s Department headquarters.
Fred Lisanti, who was formerly in charge of personnel, said Jaramillo once directed him to look for Carona’s file.
It was not kept in the drawer it was supposed to be in, Lisanti said. “A folder was there with his name on it, but it was empty,” he said.
The same was the case with files marked for Jaramillo and Haidl, Lisanti explained.
But the personnel files of other assistant sheriffs were in the drawer — just not the records of Carona, Jaramillo and Haidl, Lisanti added.
Lisanti said he found out the records of Carona, Jaramillo and Haidl were really kept in a locked cabinet at the home of another sheriff’s department employee.
Also this morning, Joseph Cavallo, a former friend of Mike Carona, finished testifying.
Carona’s attorney, Brian Sun, cross-examined Cavallo about his agreement to handle the cases of the law firm of Jaramillo, Hoffman and Associates, and how he gave part of the referral fees to assistant sheriffs George Jaramillo and Don Haidl. Cavallo testified that he never directly gave Carona fees, though the government alleges Carona got a cut of the fees for referring Sheriff’s Department cases.
“I never gave Mike Carona the money for the referrals,” Cavallo said.

The contents of the folder were shipped to the Pentagon when Mike was put on the Department of Homeland Security Committee. His personnel records burned with Bush’s military records…ooopsy!
Just kidding, DHS was concocted after the Pentagon fire caused by the missile cessna 767 speeding bullet no lawn debris ufo that hit on Sept. 11.

Has anyone asked Captain Davis Nighswonger where the files are? He might as well look for them too, isn’t he still looking for the personnel file he lost for the deputy who got the inmate killed out at Theo Lacy? Seems he misplaced it somewhere. Was that ever investigated? No cover up there I’ll bet just the same old incompetence we’ve come to expect from Carona’s hand picked faithful.

Let’s be fair and put the blame where it belongs. Nighswonger didn’t have anything to do with the missing file on the inmate killed at Theo Lacy. That gem belongs to the infamous GED queen, Gailisky. Yup, the illustrious assistant sheriff/undersheriff/chief of staff that lied her a$$ off to the OC Grand Jury and altered documents that she supplied to them during their investigation into this matter.
Galisky is the rocket scientist that came up with the “lost” file in another attempt to interfere with the GJ’s investigation. I’m still wondering why she isn’t in jail along with her puppet, Steve Bishop. The guy that also lied consistently to the Grand Jury & had his nose so far up her a$$ that he couldn’t see daylight!
The missing personnel files, those bad boys were safely tucked away by Skippy’s closest confidant, Tom Twellman. Good ol’ Tommy would and did lots of stuff in attempts to protect Skippy & his merry band of thieves & adulterers
WTF - And Nighswonger was in charge of IA and repsonisble for the lost file since it was “lost” in his area of responsibility. He could have conducted an offical inviestigation into it’s where abouts and perhaps exposed the facts you laid out above. He didn’t instead he went along with it because he was part of it. It’s easy to blame Galisky and Bishop, they’re gone. Nighswonger is still drinking from the county trough and should be investigated for either being involved or allowing these things to happen.
