Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano
The selection of Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano as President-elect Barack Obama’s secretary of Homeland Security signals the battle of amnesty is going to have to be waged again, say Reps. Dana Rohrabacher and Ed Royce.
Obama announced his national security team in Chicago this morning.
“I think that it sends a clear signal that we’re in for a long fight on this amnesty issue because she’s clearly an open borders advocate,’’ said Royce, R-Fullerton.
Royce said Napolitano opposed Prop 400 in Arizona in 2004 that would have required the state to verify the immigration status of people applying for welfare and requiring them to verify citizenship when voting. And, he said, she only signed Arizona’s law requiring employers to verify the employment status of workers after it made it to her desk a second time and clearly had overwhelming public support.
“Napolitano is someone who is not committed to stopping the most important security problem that we’ve got in America today and that’s illegal immigration, said Rohrabacher, R-Huntington Beach.

Napolitano was among the group of cabinet-level officials Obama announced today. It includes Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state, former Clinton Justice Department official Eric Holder as Attorney General and Clinton foreign policy expert Susan Rice as U.N. Ambassador. Defense Secretary Robert Gates will remain in his post for now. Retired Gen. Jim Jones will be the new president’s National Security Advisor.
Napolitanohas been hailed by immigration advocates as someone who supports comprehensive immigration reform and as a border governor who has been intimately involved in such issues. But some immigration proponents point out that the Arizona governor has supported expanding the ability of local governments to enforce federal immigration laws, something they oppose.
Royce allowed as how Napolitano also called for the National Guard to continue to patrol the border, something he supports and open border advocates have opposed.
“I would say that her choice is no better or worse than what George Bush has done on homeland security,’’ said Rohrabacher. Rohrabacher, Royce and the rest Orange County’s GOP congressional delegation have criticized the Bush administration’s policies on immigration.

Overall, Rohrabacher gaveObama a “B” for his national security team, saying the new chief executive would have gotten an “A” had he not chosen Napolitano.
“That’s pretty good, considering I was expecting an “F,” Rohrabacher said. Obama’s good grade came mostly because Rohrabacher said he was worried that Obama would pick people on the extreme left for his cabinet.
Rohrabacher called Obama’s picks middle of the road Democrats but still questioned whether Clinton has the credentials and personality to be secretary of state.
“She’s more comfortable being a monarch than being the diplomat for the monarch,’’ Rohrabacher said. “I don’t think Hillary is known for her diplomacy at all.’’
Royce questioned her experience and brought up her gaffe during the campaign when she said she was under sniper fire in Bosnia when in fact her delegation was never in any peril.
Both Republicans welcomed the holdover appointment of Gates and said retired Marine general Jones would bring good order and discipline to foreign policy decision-making.
They both railed against Holder because of his involvement in President Clinton’s last-minute pardon of fugitive financier Mark Rich, something that no doubt will be brought up by GOP senators during the Senate confirmation process.
Obama’s appointments, as expected, have received overwhelming support from Democrats as well as from some Republicans, including Indiana Sen. Richard Lugar, the senior member of the Foreign Relations Committee, who called the team “excellent” this past weekend.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein issued a statement this morning saying Obama picked “an extraordinarily experienced national security team to advise him as he navigates the challenges ahead. In my view, it’s about as good a team as one can get.”
Obama as well as Napolitano are both dedicated open border illegal alien amnesty supporters. Fortunately, so where Bush and Chertoff and we the American people stopped their amnesty attempts and we will again.
Isn’t it amazing that the American people have to fight their own government leaders to protect are borders and are countries sovereignty. I believe their actions as well as their non-actions pertaining to this issue are and will be in the future treasonous. And should be labeled as such. What a shame!
I voted for Obama knowning that I opposed his illegal immigration views. I will continue to email my Representatives to let them know why I feel amnesty and driver licenses are not good for the USA. By given the illegals amnesty will bring more and more illegal 3rd world uneducated and unskilled labor to the US. We must also do something about the anchor baby/jackpot baby problem. I don’t agree with any of these comments. First of all illegal immigrants are not qualify to get any of the benefits mention above, you need to have legals papers in order to received welfare. I belive that we do need to have a more secure border and the we need to penalize people for coming here ilegally but by open an amnesty they have to pay for the cost and not the tax payers. We need to be more educated and for the DL we can get the state do much money by giving these people the right to drive legally.

I was in the Westminster Mall the other day in the Target store and they had an illegal immigrant working as a janitor that didn’t speak any English. We had an issue with the bathroom privacy as he blocked the entrance with the door wide open while the woman were still inside. We all told him when we were done he could clean the restroom all he did was point to his watch. I ask him to get the store manager but he couldn’t understand what I was saying. I called corporate as the general manger never returned my phone call until corporate called him. The store manger then called me 4 days later and apologized but he also told me that he didn’t believe that there was an issue with him not speaking English. I told him that we speak English in this Country and we all need to communicate and this Spanish speaking older man didn’t speak English so therefore we could not communicate and that was a problem that I had with him and the store, as he had me closed in with his cart while I was on crutches. So there you go the mentality employers have and btw the store manager was also from Mexico as I also had a problem understanding him as well. Unbelievable!
The illegals do get benefits…emergency services at our hospitals (they cannot be refused treatment - hence our emergency rooms being constantly crowded, free pregnancy services, welfare, food stamps,Medi-Cal, schooling, free lunches etc. for every little “citizen” they drop here. Once they have their little “citizens”, they give their SSN’s etc to legal relatives and use them as “TAX dependents” and split the earned income credits, stimulus checks etc while drawing welfare etc. They even get HUD housing once they have their little “citizens” here. Once they are given asylum, the adults get welfare, SSI, and all the other perks of a US citizen. I say enforce the borders and immigration laws, send them back to Mexico and save Calif from the welfare state it is becoming. It would solve the classroom overcrowding, give US citizens jobs, and free up the govt services for the citizens. And don’t tell me they dont have good paying jobs…look at every company they bust…how many do you see in the fields…how many Americans could have landscaping contracts and businesses without the illegals?? What about construction jobs, brick layers..trust me they dont pay them minimum wages, they get what the going rate is but nothing taken in taxes or social security. They are draining the US!!! Last year alone illegal’s cost American taxpayers $338 BILLION. This is money that would have gone a long way to assist in education and medical coverage for our citizens. Illegal immigration will be the downfall of this country. I didn’t vote for either Obama or McCain because of their insistance on granting another amnesty. We were promised that there would never be another amnesty in 1986 when 3.6 million, mostly Mexicans, we granted amnesty. 20 years later we have more than 20 million illegal’s and some say as high as 40 million that are expecting amnesty. What will it be in another 20 years? American citizens must stand up and tell their leaders that this is not the answer to solving our illegal immigration problems. We have good laws, we just need to start enforcing them. And we need to stop giving credences to groups like LaRaza, MALDEF, MeCHa and the rest of the open borders zealots. The American citizens have to stand up for the sovereignty of our country even if our politicians fight us, we must fight back. Join the groups out there that will help us, like NumbersUsa, ALIPAC, Grassfire, to mention a few. It won’t be as easy this time to defeat them, but we can if we stick together.

Illegal aliens CAN AND DO COLLECT welfare on behalf of their U.S. citizen children. For that matter, Barack Obama’s aunt, illegally here in the U.S. from Kenya after her asylum petition was denied, lived in SUBSIDIZED housing in Boston and had a “protected” job there paid for by taxpayer funds, not to mention her medical care. Illegal aliens are also heavy users of social services such as K-12 education and in some states, in-state tuition for college, while U.S. citizens, including our military, need to pay out of state tuition. Nor would legalizing illegals do anything but make them eligible for MORE benefits. Pay taxes? Uh huh. Try collecting the earned income tax credit. We’d end up paying them. In fact, we already are. The State of Colorado identified 1,300 instances where illegal aliens had filed federal tax returns with both the ITIN and fraudulent/stolen Social Security numbers in order to get tax refunds averaging about $2,000 each.

Try it, and you’ll get charged with discrimination. EMPLOYERS such as the owner of a gardening service, should check the papers of the employees, but all a client can do is ask if the workers are legal. A fellow employee can’t even really do that. By the way, in D.C., we’ve had a couple of instances where elderly people were targeted by illegals for robbery and were beaten to death. One was an elderly woman who gave her gardener a check (he’s Salvadoran and possibly has TPS) which he raised from $75 to $7500. He then got together with a buddy and his wife to beat her to death and burned down the house while she was alive.
Is that right? Obama choices could mean amnesty. I have a question for the writers at the Orange County Register Newspaper and other so called sources of information. Here is the question,”Where exactly does the American public’s concerns fit into this amnesty plan by the Democrats and some traitorous Republicans? Informed Americans would like to know? I guess we have come to the point where decisions concerning 20-30 million people’s illegal entrance and stay in this nation is none of the American citizens business. With a centralist view as governor she was one of the first politicians to call for deployment of the National Guard along the border and also declared a state of emergency in her state’s counties nearest Mexico.Yet at the same time opposing the immigrant crackdown launched by the courageous Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and vetoing laws that would have denied state social services to illegal immigrants.
As the new Homeland Security chief, Napolitano can be expected to follow the lead of Chertoff and the Democratic Party in insisting that current immigration laws be enforced to some degree.

4. When an alien criminal gets caught for rape, murder or drug distribution, you pay $1.6 billion annually in prison costs to house, feed and clothe those filling 30 percent of our federal and state prisons.
5. Over 300,000 women annually arrive pregnant and drop them on U.S. soil. You pay food, housing, medical and schooling for them to age 18 PLUS their mother. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, average annual cost per child K-12 is $7,161.00 and exceeds $109 billion annually per cycle of anchor babies. That’s your money given out to 300,000 moms and their kids annually and all they did was get pregnant and birth that child on U.S. soil.
6. The average head of household illegal alien costs you $2,700.00 in welfare money over and above any taxes he or she pays in their meager paying jobs. With 15 to 20 million illegal aliens in the USA, that figures exceeds $20 billion of your tax dollars, according to Center for Immigration Studies, August 2004)
7. $56 billion in pure cash illegal migrants sent to their home countries last year and every year? That’s after their kids enjoyed free education, free lunches and free medical care paid for by you.
8. With a minimum of 37 million illegal aliens in our country, (according to the Tucson Border Patrol Union) these figures are the tip of the iceberg. Average bilingual education is $1,200.00 per illegal alien student. We educate 1.1 million illegal alien children each year. You paid $27 billion to provide forms, ballots, interpreters and brochures for languages other than English in 2003.
9. An estimated one-third to one-half illegal aliens work off the books. It costs $200 million to provide for emergency health care for illegal aliens in the Border States annually. California with over three million illegals paid $79 million, BUT four of their major LA hospitals bankrupted and shut their doors in 2004. Texas with 1.5 million illegal aliens paid $74 million in hospital care. Who is Texas? You, the taxpayer, that’s who! Because you, in your state, pay commensurate medical care according to your illegal alien population. Georgia ran a $63 million deficit for 64,000 unpaid doctor visits to their Grady Health Care system in 2002. In the same year, Georgia taxpayers paid $27 million for 11,188 anchor baby hospital births. Georgia taxpayers paid a whopping $242 million for educating illegal alien kids in 2003. What is it in your state?

I am a Democrat and voted for Obama, but I also voted for Rohrabacher. Any benefits gained by letting the Illegals in the USA are WAY out weighed by the problems they(Mexicans) cause.
