Wow…New York Times just reported that Hillary Rodham Clinton will resign from the US Senate and accept a post as Barack Obama’s Secretary of State. The NYT’s Peter Baker seems to have the best sources on this right now, or at least those who are the least in doubt. Even the Washington Post is quoting the Times, adding that their own sources aren’t quite as sure it’s a done deal.
It would be a very high-profile post for Hillary but also a risky one, and a much less cushy deal than camping out in the Senate and waiting to see whether Obama soars or crashes.
What do you think about the Clinton appointment?

Why can’t Obama pick some Senators from States with REPUBLICAN Governors?!
I have mixed feelings about Hill-Dog, but we’ll see how she does.
OMG,
More HillBilly for 4 years! My heart can’t take it!!!
So much for “change.” Same old Clinton retreads.
I think Obama would be smart to send her on her first diplomatic mission to Somalia to deal with the pirates by putting pressure on the Somali government.
What? They haven’t had a government since 1991?
I guess Secretary Clinton will have to stay in Somali a while then until they form one.
Hillary is qualified for the job and I wish her luck.
Scandalous.
Does changing back to the old count as “change”?
CHANGE? HAHA
Was probably the better choice for President than the two finalist, I think she’ll do a good job.
Excellent!
If redneck republicnas are against it then you know it’s the right choice.
Once officially announced as President Elect Obama’s choice for Secretary of State and before her Senate confirmation Hillary Clinton will begin to publically reinvent herself. She will clearly demonstrate her readiness and willingness to serve her country as Secretary of State under President Obama and will present her vision and indicate what her approach and her goals will be as head of the State Department. I can only wonder if the new Hillary will sport a new hairdo and wardrobe as well.
Isn’t Sec. of State like 3 heart beats away? That sure is a risky move for President Elect Obama - I wouldn’t put it past her to “off” both of them!
Great. Some change. I told you guys that the change was carter-clinton fourth term. Next one is Bin Laden for Defense. Maybe he could appoint boxer for environment and feinstien for interior and goofball governator could appoint a couple of Republican to gain some semblance of reason to the senate. Too many kooks. Even the Register has gone way too left for me. Maybe I can move to AZ now that they’re getting rid of their double wack job governor. They can put Sherriff Joe in charge. Pink for everybody!
She will do a great job. I wish she was our president elect. Obama will do great but Hillary could have done better. All these people that are complaining about Bill being back in the White House and that they can’t take it are insane.
Answer this question. - Are you better off today than you were 10 years ago when Clinton was our president? Most would answer no, things were a lot better then. I wish Clinton could have served 4 more terms. The economy was pumping and there was a surplus not a damn deficit. Bush has been funneling billions into this ridiculous war.
Just one more example of the “change” Obama will bring to Washington. His administration appointees are all Washington insiders and lobbyists. All members of the Council of Foreign relations. Just like bushees but with a D after their names instead of an R.
“Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.”
She is a complete liar. How are any countries going to trust what she says? Will she return from a summit meeting claiming to have “run with her head down as snipers fired bullets at her” like she claimed about her Bosnia trip?
So much for Obama’s 63 personal questions even making a difference as to whether someone will be selected for an administration position.
This couldn’t be a worse choice for Secretary of State
better choice than Oprah.
WWOD,…..What Will OBAMA Do? (next)?
Great news for New Yorkers.
Hopefully, Hill’s ability to recollect details will vastly improve enough so that she doesn’t have those false memories of sniper fire greeting her on foreign tarmacks.
This is no position for a drama queen.
How can she campaign forr 2012 ? You know she
hasn’t given up on being prez. Also, she is NOT a
team player
Hillary’s total foreign policy experience is ducking sniper fire! Oh well, there could be worse choices. Obama will probably send her on “foreign missions” 24/7. I shudder to think what will happen to the State Department. Heads will roll (resignation on demand) and the DOS will be chock full of Hillarites, loyal to the Hill rather than for the good of the United States. The Clintons will become billionaires by 2016.
senorita Hilari esta mucha buena
Hillary up to her old tricks. She leaked it to the NY Times that she was the pick to force Obamas hand, but now I see the media is back peddling. She’s not even picked yet.
Hill’s new appointment puts a new spin on the “don’t ask don’ t tell policy”, doesn’t it?
Hahaha!!!
Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer.
OMG. you’re kidding. She’ll be a joke. Do you truly think a bunch of Arabs or Russians will take her seriously? Just ’cause Bill is her husband, or especially SINCE he is her cheatin’ hearted husband, no one will take her seriously outside the USA.
We all know obummer needs some brains about DC.
Robert only necessary if Obama wears a new harido too.
I’m really happy to hear this news! I voted for her in the primaries and then for McCain in the General Election because I thought Obambi was too inexperienced. Knowing that a CLINTON will be part of the next four years makes me hopeful now
The Obama administration will surely crash and burn. Four years and finished!
Great Choice,Mrs.Clinton is the best for this job.
Change mean Change the Leader does not mean have to change all the staff.Somebody mentioned about Republican? Bush + Cheney 8 years was horrible. Ca 8.2% Unemployed today, people losing home, investment, 401K, banks trouble, auto indus; trouble. Why your guy still dream about Repub?
Forget about it please, if not ,sorry I call you dumb ass, stupid guys.
Great pick!
Change we can believe in?
I understand all of your thoughts. I guess she doesn’t see a chance next time around or he really fails and no one will vote for Demos. This job would give her more experience. Too bad there isn’t an election to determ who takes her place or maybe you should stay out your term elected for and save the tax payers money, then rum.
As a Republican I would say that maybe it is time it is hear from a third party that represents us all.
I would have preffered Bill Richardson, but I think it is a good choice.
oh and Jake….Obama is finding it harder and harder to find states that have a Republican Governor the balance is now 29 Democrats to 21 Republicans…I imagine it will only become more and more difficult. in 2010….the tide has shifted folks, get used to it.
and kelly SoS is 4th in line VP is first, than speaker, than Senate pro temp, than SoS.
He we go. Obama already stepped on it. This as many here say sure looks like change. Change back to the “i did not have sexual relations ….” finger pointing of course….. Days!!! Sure will be fun to watch.
Horsecrap. The witch is back. Ohhhhh Nooooo.
Attention knuckleheads:
Hillary Clinton did not hold any post in the Clinton Administration, therefore her appointment can not be construed in any legitimate fashion as a “return” to those days.
And, by the way, name three achievements of either Condoleeza Rice or Colin Powell.

So much for “change.” Same old Clinton retreads.
Amen Brudda.
I think I am going to barf-I am so sick of the clintons
it looks like obama will be politics as usual, so much for change, we have been duped
Obama’s not even going to have to make any decisions because the old Clinton administration will make them for him. Why did he want to become President again? Where’s the change you Obama lovers?
she’s the best they could get?-nice decision making-backroom deal-
protectmarriage.com
So much for CHANGE! the coutry does have some GREAT Republicans.. perhaps Obama should look around……
Hey Republicans…just hang in there…we had to suck up 8 years of one of the worst presidents ever with the lowest popularity rateing ever. He’s such a whipped lame duck he should just move out of the White House immediately. The Republicans lost their way 2 years ago now it’s up to the Democrats to try to find it.
Please, not four years of Hilary…I don’t think I can take it!
So funny to see all you Obama haters post comments. Your mentor, “Rush Limbaugh” used to say we Liberals hate America because we wanted Bush to fail, just to win our cause.
Now the tide has turned, many of you want Obama to fail, no matter the cost, just to say you were right.
Hummm, pot calling the kettle black I suppose.
And, just for the record, I didn’t support Bush, but I wanted him to be right for the betterment of America. He was not.
Had he been successful, I would have supported him totally.
He abused his position, and he failed.
Can’t you Obama haters at least give this guy the same chance I gave Bush?
Don’t you want America to succeed? Or is it worth enduring failure just for bragging rights.?
CHANGE? What change? Obama is going right back to the same old “liberal” democrats that have been around too long. So much for his promises of a neww Washington!!!!!!!!!!!! As for Hillary - have people forgetten about White Water? How many times does she think those people will go to jail for her?
HIllary is an excellent choice and the best choice for Sec of State. I voted for her (write in on my ballot) for prez even though I knew Obama would win. I love Hillary!
Great, maybe we won’t be stuck seeing her face in the Senate forever, like Kennedy and Feinstein. I guess we probably won’t be lucky enough to get a Republican in NY?!
Elect anything but Dems next time around People! They are the reasons that our State budget is so far out of control. They spend it and really, we are responsible to pay it back. Especially, because we elected these monkeys in the first place. Some of their beloved programs need to be cut and services to illegals, and printing forms in so many stupid languages - cut it all. This stuff is draining California and the money is leaving the State. Crazy Ebama is no different than the rest of the politicians.
Everyone who said she would be great REALLY NEEDS to SEE the “Clinton Chronicles”…..it’s on YouTube.
Be Prepared though….what you will see is going to make you sick.
No problem with Hillary as Secretary of State.
The President can always fire a Secretary but he can’t fire a Senator.
She’ll do what he wants her to do.
In the next four years, Biden will opt out of a second Obama term. Hillary will be named the next VP. Sarah Palin will ride off into history. The GOP will separate from the militant moral right and try to return as the party of Reagan conservatives - it’s the only way to win the middle ground.
Barack has done an excellent job of healing the party after the most intense and ugly nomination in history. I wonder what all those “HIllary supporters for McCain” think now?
My favorite election statistic: “17% of Republicans do not know what GOP means”. There’s Palins 2012 base. Huckabee will be the next nominee and he will get smoked because of his religious views… Until the GOP gets away from Evangelical policy support, they will wander in the political mist.
Best of all: FOX News will end it’s extreme right bias and Sean Hannity will be out of a job.
Bill Richardson would be a much better choice. . . . . .
I think Senator Clinton will be an assest to Obama’s team. She is already up to speed on world issues. Now all we have to do is to put duct tape on President Clinton’s mouth and keep him out of the White House.
She will be absolutely fantastic in the post and I welcome the announcement!
Oh God. Here come the Clinton Kool-Aid drinkers with their narrow minded ideology & robotic propaganda.
The more things change….the more they remain the same…..
A lot of you are just wrong. Nobody hates Obama. The Republican conservatives just wish Obama the same love and respect that Bush got. And that must be a good thing.
Since Obama is looking for a dog, he might as well pay Hillary for Bill.
He’s already broken into the White House. He’s just gotten his permit back, and he’s used to lying around with a pack of bitches even those who want absolutely nothing at all to do with him! [sounds at bit like Hillary right?]
Where is the change that was promised?? Same old song, different day.
Robert Bobby G:
From day one, Bush neither earned nor deserved love or respect. A bloody fool with an empty head, a thirst for blood and an elitist outlook (without the elitist intelligence to back it up).
Two thoughts: At least it will kill any chance of her running for the presidency in our lifetime. She will be away too much and won’t be able to control the media. Also, her first trip will be to Kenya to help get Obama’s relatives into the US and bring economic prosperity to Kenya and Somalia and make them world powers with free healthcare, education and jobs for everyone. Possibly, she will arrange to share some of the jobs that are now being outsourced to India. How do you say Wallmart in Kenyan?
Sounds like a bunch of sore losers here wanting GW back!
Let’s see. Hillary was Obama’s main opponent for President. Hillary no doubt eyes the big prize either in 4 or 8 years depending on how Obama does. Obama is keene enough to keep his enemys close by and insight as to see what they are up to and squelch any negative chatter. Obama chooses Hillary for a cabinet post thus eliminating her ability to possibly legislate and criticize his policies etc. Obama chooses Hillary for Secretary of State meaning she will go to countries and be subject to sniper fire again.
She should stay in the safe senate.
