Will Boehner lead the GOP out of the wilderness?

The vote yesterday by House Republicans to keep Rep. John Boehner as their leader was not met with approval by the Orange County Republicans who over the years have provided much of the campaign money that the GOP has used to first recapture the House in 1994 and to elect Republicans to the White House and the U.S. Senate
I have a story filed today that reflects that disappointment, particularly from Rich Wagner, the leader of the Lincoln Club, which has said it will no longer fund Republicans who don’t adhere to the core principles of that political party. The piece also reflects the feelings of some in the O.C. delegation - which split its votes on Boehner’s leadership.
There is a bright spot for those who were seeking new leadership after the Nov. 4 election defeats. The number two and three leaders - Eric Cantor and Mike Pence - do espouse the views that many in the conservative wing of the party believe in and their election could be a sign that the party will move more in that direction.
As Lincoln Club president Wagner suggests. It will be interesting to see how the GOP sets up its committee slots. That will tell a lot about their intentions next year.
