Boy, talk about turning a photo op into a career.
Joe the Plumber is sure trying to cash in on his five minutes of fame. And his people lost!!!
Check out this Web site where Joe is not only hawking his upcoming book, named - you got it - “Joe the Plumber,” but if you like you can pay $14.95 and you can get a “Freedom Membership.” Oh, if you buy the book you get the membership free. Such a deal.
And by the way, Joe is “pre selling” the book, yet to be written. And it’s not real clear what this “membership” will get you. He says he wants to take the country back from the elites. Not real clear how he and his “members” are going to do it. But it does sounds like this has the potential to bring him lots of money.
In case you were in Tahiti during the election season, Joe the Plumber was a guy who asked Barack Obama a question at a campaign event in Ohio. He clashed with Obama over the fact that Obama wants people who earn more than $250,000 a year to pay more taxes. Joe said after the event that Obama’s plan would make it hard for him to buy his plumbing business. John McCain and Sarah Palin latched onto Joe and he became a hero on the GOP campaign circuit.
Here are some things about Joe - whose last name is Wurzelbacher- that you won’t find on his Web site.
Joe never did get his plumbers license. He admitted during the campaign that owning that plumbing business was a pipe dream - he couldn’t afford to buy it regardless of tax situation. Given his annual income he would have paid less taxes under the Obama than the McCain tax plans. Speaking of taxes, as of last month, the state of Ohio filed a lien against Joe in Lucas County a $1,182.92 in unpaid income taxes.
You won’t have to spend too much time on Joe’s Web site. When you click on most of the buttons they say “coming soon.”

It’s a better web site than OC Register’s “Total Buzz”.
Keep up the good fight, Joe!
Obama will simply tax Joe & “redistribute the wealth.” Soldier on comrade.
Joe is simply exercising his entrepreneurial spirit before 1/20/09 when the ensuing Obama administration will try its best to quelch the free market system for all Americans. Way to go, Joe!
pre-selling a book that doesn’t exist. this guy IS a republican.
Oh yeah, because Bill or Hillary Clinton never got advances on their books before they wrote them.
Paul Simon wrote “Red Rubber Ball” for a 100 pound advance. Are you calling him a REPUBLICAN?!
Go for it Joe! While you’re at it, start a lawsuit against that Ohio civil servant who “invented” a new policy to snoop into your records and violate your privacy! Sue the State for hiring that criminal too!
JakeD - there’s a HUGE difference between getting an advance from a publishing house and selling your product to the public before it’s even a draft.
F&E fan is right. Authors get advances on their books from their publisher after signing a contract with them. They do not ask the public for money beforehand. Joe the white trash loser.
Capitalism at its best! In other news, the California Supreme Court today DENIED the request for stay of Prop. 8. WOO HOO!!!
There’s also a banner that reads “Secureourdream.com Version 2″ is coming and thanking you for your patience — he even had a very gracious note for President-Elect Obama — some of you, I understand, couldn’t care less.
Isn’t America great? Joe the Dumber can cash in, making money on failed Republican strategy! Just the same way executives can cash in on failed companies they’ve run into the ground. Where else but in America?
I wonder where on the list of his American values not paying your taxes is listed.
I wonder if he is listed here…

* Lien on House
* Owes back taxes
* Owes a hospital
Razorback: What is your source of information (not that I doubt it)? The Joe the Plumber initiative was probably the most desperate strategy of the McCain campaign, other than Palin of course.
Joe will probably net a couple of hundred thou on his little venture. Did you notice his publishing company, two books to their credit. One a book on Christian Right dogmatic rhetoric and the other JTP’s soon to be published book. The publishing company also sponsors his website.
Let’s buy the books and burn them ceremoniously in one big bonfire.
