Jurors in the public corruption trial of ex-sheriff Mike Carona heard evidence today of another Carona extra-marital dalliance: This time, with a Sheriff’s Department employee who was being asked about sexual harassment allegedly committed by another sheriff’s official, according to testimony.
Carona also interfered in the departmental harassment probe involving the woman, according to Don Haidl, Carona’s former assistant sheriff. Read a past story on prosecutors’ contention regarding Carona’s interference here.
Haidl told jurors that Carona had a relationship with Sandy Trujillo sometime after 2000. Trujillo was the subject of a Sheriff’s Department sex harrassment investigation regarding her treatment by Carona’s right hand man, former assistant sheriff George Jaramillo.
“He didn’t use the word affair … but he was having a relationship. He was having sex with her,” Haidl testified of Carona’s relationship with Trujillo.
Regarding the investigation, Carona said “he was going to tell her to leave it alone,” Haidl said.
“I assume she denied everything happened,” he continued.
Deborah Carona, who is also charged in the case but goes to trial later, sat expressionless in the courtroom gallery’s front row. She has attended every day of the trial.
Jurors have already heard about Carona’s affair with his co-defendant, Debra Hoffman. Proscutors say Carona got cash and money for himself, Hoffman and his wife Deborah in exchange for favors from Haidl and other supporters. Last week, Jaramillo’s wife, Lisa, testified that Carona also had an affair with her sister, Erica Hill.

I say as soon as she gets her free legal representation & her trial is over, she bails. The “Little Sheriff” seems a bit like Chuckie from those slasher movies. like Bride Of Chuckie etc.
I’m not sure what you mean by “walk” RENE. If you are asking if I think Skippy will be found not guilty, my opinion is no way. I’ve never thought this punk will squirm his way outta this mess. He’s totally responsible for all that he has done, no one twisted his arm. He gladly, willingly and arrogantly went along with all of the shenanigans that went on.
So when all this courtroom drama is over, Skippy (and what’s left of the little sheriff) will be off to federal prison where he and his new friends will be playing several rounds of “hide the weenie”.
While the “little sheriff” was getting busy, what was the big sheriff doing? Geez what a loser, I hope he does some good time. What a friggin soap opera all at our expense. This county is a mess, we need to send everyone home and start all over.

Jaramillo, and Carona are charismatic men- and used women like toys, then discarded them. I do believe that Debbie Hoffman, Sandy Trujillo, and Lilsa Jaramillo are morally responsable for their actions - but it seems that men in power forget the essential fact of what a good man is. I can’t deny it is WRONG for any woman to have sex with a married man - but it so much worse when the married man is a person in power. Could not the people around these revolving couples have said to these people, WTF? and told them to stop?

It’s my opinion that 90% of cops cheat on their wives. Being a current employee of a law enforcement agency, I see it all the time. Girls throw themselves at them because of their uniform no matter what they look like. and because it’s that easy, they cheat on their wives.
I will see an officer with his beautiful wife & kids at an event one day and making out with some groupie the next with no shame. it happens ALL of the time!!! I’ve seen it over & over again, even from the ones you’d least expect.
I never cared about guys cheating on their wives when I was still on the job. I just figured it was none of my business and it didn’t involve me.
