Debate: Joe the Plumber has no plumbing license

October 16th, 2008, 1:30 pm · 6 Comments · posted by Martin Wisckol, Politics reporter

UPDATE: Apparently, Joe the Plumber is the son-in-law of Charles Keating, of the savings and loan debacle which involved McCain. H/T to TheLiberalOC.com OK, the plumber’s name is Robert Wurzelbacher. Charles Keating has a son-in-law named Robert Wurzelbacher. But they’re apparently not the same people. Just ironic coincidence.

If you watched the debate last night, you heard plenty from John McCain about Joe the Plumber. McCain talked about how Joe the Plumber would be better off if McCain was elected.

Now the Associated Press is reporting in this story that Joe the Plumber lacks a plumbing license.

Deregulation anyone?

So what? Guilt by association is still wrong, no matter who is getting the guilt laid on him. Joe the Plumber was not one of the Keating 5. John McCain was. End of story.

  • Bev Haut says:

Melissa, please tell your fellow McCainiacs that associations apparently *DO* matter. Joe the Plumber was a plant, and now he’s being outed.

I’ll bet a hundred bucks that Joe the Plumber and his boss-partner end up being in more trouble as a result of McCain’s constant use of his name than he ever could under an Obama administration.

There’s more to this, I know it.

How can some one be so stupid! Joe the plumber said “ Maybe one day he could be the owner of the company he works for.” This is what you call the American Dream. A dream of one day owning your own business after years of hard work. Where you can hire your own guys and not have to actually do the work yourself. This is how you can make a good living by working hard and wanting to do better for yourself and your family. If no one can understand what this man was trying to point out then you’re not very smart. The young ones on here commenting do not seem to have any work ethic at all, because if they did they would understand where this MAN is coming from.

I’m not a McCainiac. I’m a dyed-in-the-wool Obama-voting Democrat. And Joe da Plumber will be forgotten by Monday. Being related to Charles Keating, not having a plumbing license, lying about the whole silly thing still does not matter. If ‘our side’ gets mad at the guilt by association Ayers tricks, we shouldn’t be playing guilt by association tricks on McCain. I would even go so far as to say McCain’s associations with G. Gordon Liddy don’t matter. McCain himself was not involved in the Watergate break-ins. Now, if we are discussing the Keating 5 scandal, that is fair game. McCain took part in that and was smacked down for it.

I’m just offended that the GOP thinks that none of us watched the movie, “Wag The Dog.”

  • Varn Ford says:

This guy (Joe the plumber) was evidently a plant placed there by the Obama campaign Democrats in hopes that this connection to Keating would surface.
