County supervisor Nguyen wants halt to DNA contracts

October 7th, 2008, 1:37 pm · Post a Comment · posted by NORBERTO SANTANA JR.

County Supervisor Janet Nguyen is getting tired of approving contracts for the District Attorney’s DNA efforts without having the county resolve the ongoing battle between the DA and Sheriff’s Dept. for contol of the DNA operation.

And she ain’t mincing words.

When Supervisors’ Chairman John Moorlach today asked her to wait until DA Tony Rackauckas showed up at the meeting to voice her concerns, she replied, “it’s recorded” referring to the meeting and proceeded to voice her displeasure.

Nguyen had an issue with another contract being doled out for the DA’s DNA operation. She said until the county CEO finishes a study figuring out who should run the DNA lab, she doesn’t want to keep giving out contracts.

That report is expected back in 10 days, said County CEO Tom Mauk.
