We’re still trying to figure out exactly what’s going to happen with public services here in California and locally with this ongoing credit crunch. My colleage Brian Joseph and I have an article updating what’s going on with officials trying to keep their government operations functioning.
Our colleague, Jon Lansner, has a deeply troubling post over at his real estate blog noting that Orange County’s Transportation Authority has already been burned by the meltdown to the tune of more than $228,00
Looks like the next few weeks are going to be tense…
Enjoy the weekend…
Hey NORBERTO SANTANA JR.,
Thanks the the pat on the back …. “Enjoy the weekend…”…… after a short “so called” story.
Never know, OC Rag might be cutting jobs… (hint) ;+D
Know, YOU have a good weekend.
oh man! government cutbacks? what a shame! my heart bleeds! gee, maybe the trough feeders will have to renegotiate their collective bargaining contracts and give up some of those generous pension benefits. who knows? maybe they’ll even have to work until they’re 65 like normal people do. great time to get rid of some of the drones and dead weight. Let’s thin the herd. It’s been a long time a’comin!
I agree with ocobserver,as a County employee I see so many areas we can save money and yes improve service to our clients ( taxpayers ) But I know exactly what will happen , we will do the usual smoke and mirror trick where we suddenly are able to save millions of dollars by re organing some departments. Then our top heavy management will be congratulating themselves ( with pay increases and bonuses ) .I say get rid of unproductive people get rid of Nick and his group of malcontents that have some sort of sense of entitlement to taxpayers money and start culling the herd.
here’s an idea gov’t… make do, like every other business. provide value for value, stop giving the taxpayers (aka boss, customer) the short end of the stick repeatedly, or else cease to exist as you know it.
