Moorlach responds to $1 million legal bill in pension battle

The previous blog entry discusses the deputy sheriffs union making a big deal over the county’s $1 million in legal expenses in its effort to trim pensions many union members. But Board of Supervisors Chairman John Moorlach, who’s leading the drive to pull back on the pensions, says $1 million is peanuts when you consider the magnitude of the Orange County Employees Retirement System. He used yesterday’s Wall Street losses as an example.
“OCERS probably lost $168 million yesterday,” Moorlach said. “If that held, it would cost the county $19 million a year for 15 years to replace the loss. I don’t mind Wayne (Quint, head of the union) complaining about $1 million. We’re trying to address many multiples of that.
“$1 million is spit.”

I guess the 100,000 of taxpayers $ he spent on his office is peanuts too, along with this 1-mil. How about the $ Moorlach gets for car allowance and free county gas, or maybe he’s just taking the $ instead of freecar and gas. Did’nt say the the 600k payed out to Chamberlain’s was peanuts. Moorlach is sounding like a school kid that whines to much.

The money lost yesterday by OCERS can be recovered when the market turns. Money spent on lawyers will be gone forever. This will just be the first round of litigaiton on this matter. If Moorlach wins it will just open the County up to furthur legal action by all the people that were provided inaccurate retirement figures when they decided to retire. This is going to cost the County millions no matter which way the court decides. It could have been avoided by negotiating in good faith instead of Moorlach’s “look at me “lawsuit.

Ahhh.. The $200K per year GED educated welfare queens who have BILLIONS in unearned RETROACTIVE pension and helthcare benefits are complaining YET AGAIN about 1-1,000,000,000,000th of the costs of their scams.
Mr. Kettle, meet Mr. Pot.
It never fails to amaze me to see how these lazy, blood sucking government leeches, especially in the PD and FD, feel like they are “entitled” to get more income in “retirement” than when they worked.
Amazing. Simly amazing.

However, Mr. Moorlach was a Trustee on the OCERS Board for his full tenure as Treasurer - these are his investments that are going bust.

The “investments” are only a small part of the problem, the majority of the problem are 6 figure, gold plated Cadillac pensions for GED educated gov employees.

Mr. JohnnyVegas:
While I agree that some law enforcement may not have a college education, I do think putting your life on the line everyday is priceless! I’m sure your “educated” a$$ would be hiding behind your desk like a coward if put in a dangerous situation. These guys risk their lives everyday to keep unappreciative snobs like you safe!
When you become a sworn officer you are on-duty 24/7, even when you’re at home. And with all of the people out there who hate cops, a threat against their lives, home & family isn’t uncommon. Try leaving work every night wondering if someone’s following you home because you put their homeboy in jail last week…Or worry about the safety of you & your family because you just ran into a criminal who recognized you at the grocery store…Or how about getting the mental image of the small, badly abused child that you took to the hospital out of your head. The duty of a police officer doesn’t end when he/she clocks out & go homes. It’s a stressful, emotionally draining & demanding job that no “college education” could prepare you for
So tell me Mr. Johnny Vegas how much is your life worth? Does it have a pricetag? Because unless you have a personal bodyguard, the only people that will risk their lives to save yours are these “GED-educated, overpaid” cops….Not your “well-educated”, snobby, ungrateful associates. Stop being so ungrateful! No price is too much for the work these guys do and the criticism & hate that comes along with it!!

Next time Venegas when someone is breaking into your house call a gangbanger or a rapist to come and save your life!!!!!

Hahhaha…more welfare queen whoppers from the PD and FD welfare queens.
Why am I NOT surprised?????
Like that their job is soooo dangerous…hahahah…one of the safest jobs in America.
Plus when trouble starts the SO and PD usually will put their tail between their skinny little legs and head for the hills, unless they outnumber the bad guys 20 to 1.
Put a cork in GED Boys-you’re getting a cut in the scam pensions or OC is going Vallejo on your lazy, welfare queen butts!
