Psssssst. Wanna buy some Carona swag?

It was bound to happen.
Memorabilia from the administration of indicted ex-Orange County Sheriff Michael S. Carona has shown up on Ebay. A green marble paperweight — given as a party favor at Carona’s 1999 inaugural luncheon — was posted Wednesday.
Starting price: 99-cents.
Leeayn Chapman, a volunteer “Professional Service Responder,” for the department, listed the keepsake on Ebay the same day that she sent back her badge, as ordered by new Sheriff Sandra Hutchens.
Hutchens has said the badges issued to PSRs by Carona look too much like those given to sworn personnel.
Chapman was one of Carona’s original supporters. But she is no longer enamored with the former lawman, who faces federal corruption charges. Chapman figures it was either put the paperweight on Ebay or use it for target practice. (Her husband is a retired deputy.)
Chapman is a retired OCSD crime scene analyst who gave back one badge when she stopped working — and now gave back another as a PSR.
She’s not expecting to make much money off Carona swag, but figures – at the very least — the Ebay posting may be worth a chuckle. Or two.

The starting price is 99 cents and I’m quite sure the selling price, if there is one, will be….99 cents. Might as well just throw the POS away.

Actually, WTF ~ I’d say minus 99 cents would be a good price!

Let Leeayn Chapman do whatever she wants…her name is mud with Sheriff Hutchens, so what does it matter now? 99 cents seems like a good price for crap from Carona.

It is only a plaque and it is totally worthless to anyone by Corona. It has a hack saw blade, some folded hush money and a prophylactic inside consealed in a dirty little secret compartment.

HAHA! Does that include shipping? Obviously she could care less what Hutchens thinks.

I’m waiting for the glazed cigar from one of his many girlfriends…What a leader/mentor. Let everyone remember his followers: Fleishman, Galiski, Anderson, Bishop, Markenson, Carrol, Armanino(sp?), Murray, et. al

Shipping is US $6.50. As I type this it is up to 10 bids at the current price of $66.00.

it’s going for over $100 right now. . . .
August 27th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
bid is over $100.00 so far. Leeayn Chapman will be laughing all the way to the bank!

And in other extremely important news…

Over $150 now!

Maybe she can create a market for all of the other “paperweights” Carona brought from the Marshal’s Office and cultivated in-house. KnowEmAll surely knows alot more, I do.
August 28th, 2008 at 11:37 am
$200.00 and six days left for bidding!
August 28th, 2008 at 11:43 am
Hey, some idiot may pay thousands for it & if so Leeayn can laugh all the way to the bank, prior to that I don’t think so. I would love for her to offer to take our new Sheriff to dinner, how about that great thought? They can chew on Carona together!

I love the comments. Eliz - that is funny about taking the new SHEriff to dinner. Not gonna happen, but funny!
I just posted another paperweight - this is the “Major Contributor” glass/crystal one - very impressive indeed! At least I can admit my mistakes

Thanks for the heads up on the paperweight. Now it will sit at the same price as the other one if people bid.
Rather give you the money than him.
From another CR. . . ..

For what I would use it for, a clay pigeon would be a better deal.

OK, I’ve never been a Carona fan, but leeayn is smart on knowing that Ebay buyers don’t care about Orange County, CA ’s problems. They would just as soon buy a paperweight that had been given away by Adolph Hitler. Of course it would be worth more, but we should not be surprised that this thing is selling. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Why arent some of the deputies put on ebay? Maybe its because you wont get many bids?

Why aren’t a “lot of people” put on ebay? I know there wouldn’t be many bids, if any.
