Rohrabacher race downgraded by analyst

July 3rd, 2008, 3:45 pm · 8 Comments · posted by Dena Bunis, Washington Bureau Chief

dana1.jpgCharlie Cook’s Cook Political Report, a leading predictor of congressional races each year, just put out an update and has downgraded Rep. Dana Rohrabacher’s re-election from “solid Republican” to “likely Republican.”

cook.jpgNow this doesn’t mean that Cook believes Rohrabacher, R-Huntington Beach, is necessarily in danger of losing his seat, but it does give some encouragement to Democratic Huntington Beach Mayor Debbie Cook who’s trying to unseat the veteran lawmaker. Debbie Cook is no relation, by the way, to Charlie.

The report, which is available by subscription only, shifted the competitiveness ratings for 28 races, 27 of them in favor of the Democrats. You can look at the map of Cook’s rankings even without a subscription.

Cook has no business in congress. She can’t even solve problems in HB & she wants national office? I don’t think so!

  • Shizzle Dizzle says:

Rohrabacher needs to go just like his indicted buddy Mike Carona. He was the one who lead the charge to manipulate Carona’s re-election “endrosement” from the corrupt OC GOP. Rohrabacher was also involved with convicted con-man Joseph Medawar just like his indicted buddy Carona. This bum should be indcited just like his indicted buddy Carona. You go Debbie Cook!

  • She's got good energy says:

Maybe this IS the year that Rohrabacher is finally put out to pasture. He appears to spend his time indulging in strange obsessions- like asteroids striking earth, or the torture value of women’s panties. Dana’s tangential interests that have nothing to do with representing the residents of his district.

Thank goodness we have a viable, down-to earth and intelligent candidate in Debbie Cook.

I say go get ‘em Debbie!

  • Stan Switek says:

Cook is a one trick pony. She has done absolutely nothing for HB. Try contacting her office on something that is not environmental. All you will hear is crickets. She doesn’t have any answers on the tough national issues. She is just another liberal nut job.

  • Vietnam Vote says:

The Vietnamese-American communities are 100% in support of Dana Rohrabacher. Dana is such a caring person with a good heart.

Most importantly, Dana Rohrabacher is anti-communist. He works hard to support human rights and freedom for Vietnam.

    Go Dana…..

  • tracy says:

Cook wants to let more illegal in…..is this what you want?

  • Stan Switek says:

Cooks environmental agenda will contribute to $10 a gallon gas. I live in Huntington. I have seen her in action. The quality of life in Huntington Beach has decayed under her leadership. Cook has nothing to offer in the way of new ideas.

  • Tim Geddes says:

Dana Rohrabacher has not represented his constituents well for years. Debbie Cook is the real deal, having been the best member of the Huntington Beach City Council since her election in 2000. She is smart, tough, fair, and thorough. For those who criticize Cook, have they looked at what they’re getting now?! C’mon.
