Hoa Van Tran survives second endorsement vote

May 27th, 2008, 8:22 pm · 7 Comments · posted by PEGGY LOWE

hoa_speaking1.jpgThe Reg’s Tony Saavedra reports tonight that Hoa Van Tran, the beleagured, lone Democrat running for the First District supes seat, survived a second vote on his party’s endorsement.

Orange County Democrats voted against rescinding the vote – despite irregularities in his financial disclosures, ties between his campaign and gang members, and a restraining order taken by an intern against Tran’s campaign manager.

Democrats, according to someone who witnessed the vote, couldn’t even bring themselves to issue a warning to Tran to clean up his campaign, which is being managed by Edgardo Reynoso. Reynoso was notably absent from the emergency hearing tonight.

Those in the party who clamored for Tran to lose the endorsement were reportedly looking for a bar ….

I have received three telephone calls that said that someone– thought to be from the Hoa Van Tran campaign–is saying that I have done a poll showing Mr. Van Tran to be in 1st place in the 1st Supervisorial district race. I have conducted no such poll.

I went to bar alright! A big ‘ol draft beer and two rum and Cokes took the pain away… for now. I’m still spinning from the meeting a little though.

Well, so much is said about the Democratic Party nomination for 1st District Supervisor. It seemed they have no one to nominate except Mr. Hoa Tran, so they will take any thing.
May be, it’s about time that they can nominate King Kong because it at least has the strength and is well-known in the movie circle !

I wish I had not resigned from the Central Committee. I would have added friendly amendments that we give Hoa a big DPOC group hug, proclaim that gangs are an essential part of our community and send all the campaign staffers for Hoa some roses. Oh yeah, and that we all join hands and sing kumbuiya and everyone lives happily ever after.

I am so disgusted. Look for my thoughts on a guest post on Orange Juice. Once again south county Dems who know nothing about Central OC interfered and decided that they know what is best for us plebians from Santa Ana. Personally, I would require for any DPOC Committee member to take a class educating them on politics and life in general in Central OC.

For the record Peggy there is simply a core of roughly 14 people at the DPOC that are acting as agitators. The majority of the central committee has dismissed these folks plans to sabotage Hoa’s campaign. Watching them freak out is so entertaining.

Unfortunately Peggy you fell for their garbage hook, line and sinker. You and a handful of kooky bloggers would have us believe that there is a groundswell of opposition to Hoa and his campaign. That is simply not true.

All this venom has led to more volunteers showing up and the office having to install more phone lines. I hope you and your blogger buddies keep up the good work. The more you write, the more support Hoa gets.
