A tanglier and tanglier web of communism in Little Saigon

May 19th, 2008, 10:09 am · 2 Comments · posted by Martin Wisckol, Politics reporter

foot-tub.jpgJust in case you thought you understood the basics of the conflicts in Little Saigon, try wrapping your brain around the latest eruption of unlikely rumors, as summarized on Bolsavik’s blog.

Organizers of the protests outside Viet Weekly have written an op-ed piece in Nguoi Viet Daily News, alleging that the Nguoi Viet protesters are in fact supported by communists… and by Supervisor Janet Nguyen.

What? You thought the protesters of both papers were anti-communist? What about the fact that Andy Quach, a Westminster councilman and backer of supervisorial candidate Dina Nguyen has also been seen at the Nguoi Viet protests? And that none of the elected officials in Little Saigon has condemned the protests?

I’m scratching my head too. But the protesters at the two newspapers, while they may have once been united, are clearly at odds now.
