Dina Nguyen talks about the Vietnamese flags

In this installment of the interviews with elected officials about the Little Saigon’s anti-communist protests, we’ll hear from Garden Grove Councilwoman Dina Nguyen. I’ve also rounded up a photo of the controversial pedicure tub, although it’s not the same photo that got Nguoi Viet Daily News in hot water.
Nguyen’s money quote came in response to the question about why she and others found the flag of communist Vietnam so offensive.
“It’s sort of like a Jewish community seeing a Nazi flag,” she said.
Nguyen and Westminster Councilman Andy Quach joined the activists that convinced Irvine Valley College to take down its exhibition of miniature international flags because it included a Vietnamese flag. And she understands where the Nguoi Viet protesters are coming from.
“I do sympathize with the protesters,” she said. “Seeing that in Nguoi Viet was very disturbing.”
So, how does she thing the conflict between the paper and the protesters might be resolved?
“It’s not for me to say.”
As for the behavior of the Nguoi Viet protesters, she isn’t convinced they’ve done anything wrong.
“I don’t have any facts. I always believe protests should be peaceful.”
As I mentioned in the story today about Little Saigon officials staying out of the protest fray, Nguyen is planning a seminar that she says will help the community at large better understand anti-communist sentiment among Vietnamese Americans.

I didn’t think the foot bath picture was offensive, especially when you know that it accompanies an article where the artist praises her mother-in-law. I thought the more offensive/controversial piece was the flag hanging on the wall. It basically joins the South Vietnamese flag with that of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, as if the artist wants to say “Let’s forget the past and forge a new future together.” That’s much more subversive than the foot bath.

Dina is full of… nothing.
Outrageous idea for a workshop. Who’s gonna come to such a dumb event?
Will the protesters be outside guarding you?
Best spend your time courting the powerhouse Republicans for their vote - endorsement?
Oops, forgot. Can’t buy their votes.
You guys already lost the votes of the fine ladies and gentlemen of Irvine Valley College. If you believe protests should be “peaceful,” why do you go and threaten the school WHILE you’re an elected official?
Go Janet! Go Hoa! Either of you deserve the vote more than this wannabe. She can’t even file correct statements for her campaign?
When are you having this event? Man, let’s protest that.

Michael:
Obviously, Janet knew how not to disclose an illegal account when she solicited contribution beyond what allowed. Did she get fine for her incorrect filing or actually not-filing at all?

Michael,
don’t bother to response to these loosers. A lot of people in our community already see right through this bunch of good for nothing local politicians… they are NOT in it for this community, they are all in it to build a name for themselves. If you don’t root for them, then they will find ways to bash you… that’s how they operate. We know them too well now. They’re thugs not politicians… They have no moral standards, they take money from unemployed individuals to run for office (check out Dina’s report), they dont’ keep their reputations clean, they say they are proud of Dina? Proud of what? Proud of the fact that she can get into bed with anyone? How pathetic. People in this community are very sick of all their inflated writings about her… The Trannies are ruining the good name of this community. Most of us are well educated, sophisticated and honest working people. We are family oriented and expected our leaders to be conservative and have high moral standards. We are shock to see Van Tran lying through his teeth trying to make us believe that Dina is good, honest and an accomplished woman with good family values… I am sure he knows that she has 3 kids from 3 different fathers, she’s always been involved with married or oblibligated men (currently in one right now), before she ran for council 2 years ago, she was never involve in any charity organization, everything you see on her bio now are organizations that’s just been set up recently or they are her friends’ and they just add her name to it to help lengthen the bio…if you look closely, she’s done nothing for this community. She’s been an employee of the court as a clerk for 14 years… nothing to be proud of that… that’s nothing extraorindary… the Trannies are so full of it. they are becoming desperate these days so they begin to act more like thugs… this community really needs to voice their opinions and get rid of these thugs…
April 15th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
All the Vietnamese electeds are one and the same “the Trannies”, All of them are Van Tran’s followers, Dina is sneaking around with one of the Trannies so now you know the connections… Just becuase they all endorse her does not mean that she’s qualified, these Vietnamese electeds are NOT the voice of the Vietnamese community as a whole. when it comes to these electeds, if ONE of the Trannies endorse you, they all will. They work as a pack. This is the race between the Trannies and Janet, not Dina. Tran needs to settle personal scores with Janet… Dina is only a PAWN. This community has no respect for a woman like Dina

This is just another one of the TRANNIES ideas to get publicity. She should think twice before she even attempt to speak out in public and trying to educate people (does she really think she knows more then these elders?). Dina herself & her boytoy Andy Quach are the two that really needs to be educated better so they will know how to behave better in public. All the Trannies should really think about getting out of politics all together. They are becoming more and more like the mobsters… the sad thing is they think it’s cool… they should consider joining a gang NOT politics. Dina needs to learn TO HOLD HER TONGUE AND CONTROL HER HORMONES. These guys make me SICK.
April 15th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Does this DINA really thinks that she knows better than the rest of us? She really thinks that we could the USE the EDUCATION? If we really need to learn about that Dina, we have plenty of people to turn to, IT WOULDNT” BE YOU!!! Do NOT DISRESPECT US any more than you already have. It’s obvious that she needs the publicity desperately to compensate for her NO NAME ID, but this is STUPID. we see her trailing behind the Trannies everywhere but we can’t really credit anything good to her name…

Dina, I am very proud of you, I will vote for you to replace Janet !.
April 16th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Proud what? Take a good look and see what she’s done for this community accept trailing behind the Trannies everywhere they go just to make sure her face are in every photo taken. Take a good look at her BIO and see what you can really credit her for? What has she done that you can say she’s in it to help the people or the community? She hasn’t done anything for anyone of us to be proud of… PLEASE, you are dillusional… besides her paid writer she also hire guys like you to blog as well?

Van Tran and company are bullies!
I don’t like Janet Nguyen but I rather vote for her than for Dina, just because the latter is -somebody is right- a pawn. Van Tran is a petty man, he could not get Trung Nguyen to win so now he introduced another female Nguyen to knock off his enemy. He is no gentleman, a scumbag, and he does not deserve to be respected. Watching him and his followers makes me so nauseated…No shame…
But now I think I’ll give Hoa ( Tran?)a chance. He speaks like other politicians, but at least what he says is more intelligent than the rest of those bullies. They are political gang members!
This woman, Dina, could say anything just to get votes. No shame. How could she say things like ” I have no facts”? What kind of uninformed politician is she? And she wants the larger community to understand the anti-communist sentiment of the VN community? what else does she want them to know that they don’t already know? full of s.#$%.t talk!
April 17th, 2008 at 1:56 pm
When is this woman DINA going to get that this community has no respect for a woman with such a shady reputation
April 18th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
The Trannies really need to learn to get along with others. Their MOTTO is, if you dont’ work with them, if you dont’ support them, if you dont’ agree with them, they will make things difficult for you if they have the opportunity to. I AM SERIOUSLY SICK OF THAT WHOLE GROUP OF GANGSTERS

could everyone please forward this message to Ding Dong Dina when you see her, thank you. ” Hey Ding Dong Dina, my uncle wants to know the name of the person who did the touch up of your picture on the posters cause he was shocked to see you in person @ your fund raising last Sunday. He also wants to know if he could get his money back ? “

I don’t think we want anymore dirty politician in our government, unfortunately Dina is one of them ( this is the fact based on my own personal involvement with her ). However, a lots of people are still being fooling by her sweet talk and they seem to overlook at her moral value on life, love & friendship. A human being should have good moral value to be a good person, to be able to differentiate between right & wrong and that’s what make us different from the animals. I really really hope the Vietnamese community will not make the same mistake twice.

I feel sorry for Dina - Another “Trung Nguyen” attempt by Van Tran. When do they know to care for community real needs vs these anti-communist extremists that helps no one but the ones who feeds on the past? Hope the Vietnamese votes are smart enough to show we support those who really care. Go Janet.

After months of listening to all the talks in our community and witnessed it for myself, I strongly believe we as Vietnamese Americans need to vote responsibly to help make a positive change for our community. I have listened to Dina speak on several occasions, researched on some of things that she claimed to be involved in and i am absolutely convinced that she does not have the experience, the talent or the common sense to take on Janet Nguyen. Most of what’s listed Dina’s bio is as recent as a year ago. I went to meet people at these organizations and one in particular was just set up 6 months ago. After looking into everything that Janet has been doing, she’s proven to be a very strong and very capable individual. We should be proud of her and make sure she will continue to serve us. I know more about Dina’s bad reputation then anything that Dina’s done for our community.

Hey Dina , Are You Trying To Sell Something In Bolsa ? Don’t You Know That You’re DAMAGE GOOD ?
