Rohrabacher renewing call to boycott Beijing games

In the wake of the violence against protestors in Tibet, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is renewing his call for the U.S. to boycott the Beijing Olympics this summer.
Rohrabacher, R-Huntington Beach, is sending a letter today to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asking her to schedule hearings on his bill HRes 610 , which calls for an Olympic boycott, and bring it to the floor.
So far he has 13 co-sponsors of his resolution. They range from the most conservative members like Rohrabacher to Reps. Pete Stark and Maxine Waters, two California Democrats who rarely agree with Rohrabacher on anything.
As we’ve explained before, Congress doesn’t have the power to stop the U.S. Olympic Committee from going to China and so far President Bush is fully supportive of the U.S. participating in the Olympiad.
But that’s not stopping Rohrabacher from continuing to push on this issue.

Finally, someone in Congress with a backbone to stand up and say the right thing! God Bless You Dana, this is the only right thing to do to the brutality of the PRC regime against nonviolent Tibetans and Buddhist monks.

Don’t expect his future democratic opponent Debbie Cook to show any backbone or courage.

I agree with Rep. Rohrabacher, Maxine Waters & Pete Stark. It’s past time someone had the guts & common sense to speak up!!
