Dunn says he’s not running, but won’t rule out future

January 11th, 2008, 4:24 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Peggy Lowe

Just got off the phone with Joe Dunn, who confirmed for me that he won’t be running for the First District supes seat. Dunn told me that he seriously considered the gig over the holidays, but that he decided to stay with the California Medical Association to work on the state’s health care reform issues.

“I gave it consideration but am going to remain with the association and the work we’re doing,” he said.

I asked him if that means he won’t be running for anything in the future. He laughed and said, “Never say never, but the answer is: no time soon.”

I also asked him if he’s bummed that he won’t be coming home to Santa Ana to work and he said no, he’s fine with his decision.

“We go around life only once and we should make the decisions that make us happy,” he said.

Asked if he has a candidate in mind for the Dems, he diplomatically said, “There’s a lot of very, very promising talent out there.”
