Seven degrees of Mike Carona

Seems Sheriff Mike Carona is in the national news again…this time, ABC News is reporting a story about Carona’s connection to Hank Asher, a controversial Florida billionaire who is also connected to Rudy Giuliani. This will be an update to my posting on the six degrees of Mike Carona, which linked him to some of his, um, other friends, namely David Gelbaum and Jack Hanshaw.
Asher is named in the Carona indictment as “H.A.,” accused by the feds of giving Carona’s wife, Debbie, a $15,000 Cartier watch. Prosecutors say he also gave one to Lisa Jaramillo, the wife of former Assistant Sheriff George Jaramillo. But Carona and Asher have other ties — they both served on the board of the Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Asher has made campaign contributions to the sheriff. Carona, of course, also has ties to Giuliani. After visting New York, Carona and Jaramillo came back to Orange County and made the sheriff’s Dignitary Protection Unit look much like that of the then-New York mayor’s. I found that in the grand jury transcripts from Jaramillo’s county corruption case.

Every time Carona’s name shows up in the press with Orange County Sheriff before it begs the question why and how much longer?
What ego is big enough to not care about the reputation of so many?
Please Mike, spare us. Do the honorable thing.
Detractor and Other Bitter Persons,
Our Sheriff, Michael Carona, is one of the most intelligent and gentle persons you will every have the pleasure of knowing. Never before have the residents of Orange County had the opportunity to elect a man of such broad experience and education as Sheriff Carona. The breadth and depth of experience which Sheriff Carona brought to law enforcement is unparalleled. Clearly, he possesses the unique abilities and background necessary to lead.
For every “No Headlights” detractor out there, there are at least twenty “Headlights On” supporters putting themselves on the front lines during this Firestorm.

You’ve done a great job and you’ll continue to do a great job after all of this. It just shows the problems we have higher up in our judicial system.
Rich, you sound like Saddam Hussein’s spin doctor Deny, Deny, Deny. You are the exact type if person we need to remove from the Sheriff’s Department.
Just because Skippy promoted you doesn’t mean you should throw your moral compass away. Everybody who knows Mike knows what he is. He is super slick sales man who only cares about himself.
Do me a favor Rich and take a look at the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics. You remember, that thing Sheriff Carona and the rest of us have sworn to live by.
As a Law Enforcement Officer, my fundamental duty is to serve mankind; to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation, and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the Constitutional rights of all persons to liberty, equality and justice.
I will keep my private life unsullied as an example to all; maintain courageous calm in the face of danger, scorn or ridicule; develop self-restraint; and be constantly mindful of the welfare of others. Honest in thought and deed in both my personal and official life, I will be exemplary in obeying the laws of the land and the regulations of my department. Whatever I see or hear of a confidential nature or that is confided to me in my official capacity will be kept ever secret unless revelation is necessary in the performance of my duty.
I will never act officiously or permit personal feelings, prejudices, animosities or friendships to influence my decisions. With no compromise for crime and with relentless prosecution of criminal, I will enforce the law courteously and appropriately without fear or favor, malice or ill will, never employing unnecessary force or violence and never accepting gratuities.
I recognize the badge of my office as a symbol of public faith, and I accept it as a public trust to be held so long as I am true to the ethics of the police service. I will constantly strive to achieve these objectives and ideals, dedicating myself before God to my chosen profession…law enforcement.
I could write a hundred pages on all the things Mike has done to violate to Code of Ethics
Capital Punishment & Sheriff Carona’s Firestorm:
The New York Times recently published an article that summarizes recent studies conducted by scholars in law and economics which conclude that “capital punishment saves lives.” This Firestorm involving Our Sheriff, Michael Carona, is a prime example of how Sheriff Carona’s detractors and other bitter persons are attempting to impose a sentence that is bent on “destroying lives.”
During this Firestorm, those against Sheriff Carona want to assure that “destruction”, and nothing less, will equal to their brand of justice.
Sheriff Carona, is entitled to the same protections that we give all citizens. Only a judge or jury are allowed to take those protections away. Justice does not stop because the accused has been convicted in the press or in the court of public opinion.
This Firestorm has generated lots of theatre from those trying to distance themselves from Sheriff Carona, or those who seek to take advantage or personal gain from what they could not get when the playing field was level. We must not allow this Firestorm to take innocent life! We must understand that what Sheriff Carona stands accused of today are still only ALLEGATIONS.
Sheriff Carona is entitled to the presumption of innocence. This Firestorm does not warrant a Capital Punishment sentence by the few (but relentless) detractors in the court of public opinion.

Sheriff Carona’s “breadth and depth of experience”??? This guy have never even made routine traffic stop in his career, much less patrolled our streets.

Come guys, give it up. Who did Carona piss o&&?
He hasn’t done a tenth of what other corrupt sheriffs have done. (See Floyd Tidwell) Berdoo
Rich White has written almost 50%, (4 out of 10), of the responses here. Unfortunately he represents what little is wrong with OCSD. Litttle in numbers but be big on spin.
“Intelligent person.” - Is that why he has to take leave and spend more than he’ll ever pay back to defend his reckless conduct?
“Breadth and depth of experience…unparalleled” - Look around.
“Sheriff Carona’s detractors and other bitter persons are attempting to impose a sentence that is bent on “destroying lives.” - These are people who are detractors of unethical conduct and bringing the Haidls and Jaramillos to us who has almost “destroyed lives” and careers in this department.
White is the one sounding pretty “bitter” that people refuse to standby any longer and put up with his unethical Sheriff .
By the way, I hope those day time comments were not written while on duty. Probably was considering who his mentor is.
Headlights on guy sure is easily impressed by fluff.
Two of the organizations he listed are run by a Carona PSR, another is run by a friend who spoke at an academy graduation and so on. In other words it was the old you scratch my back I’ll scratch yours. That is politics and it has no room in a real law enforcement organization. Which is why the Santa Ana Police Chief said no to Don Haidl who then went sniffing Carona’s way.
And the number of people who competed for the marshal position was no where near 72. That number, like so much else, has been exaggerated over the years. Just like the Marshal department under Carona exaggerated their numbers for how many females and Hispanics they employed.
There is much more but those who choose to believe the man behind the curtain will.
Simple question, Did Carona nail Jarmillo’s wife AND her sister?
