OC Republicans continue to slip

November 28th, 2007, 5:35 pm · 6 Comments · posted by Martin Wisckol, Politics reporter

gop-elephant.jpgThe OC GOP declares this the “most Republican county in the the USA” on the basis of delivering George W. Bush the largest margin of victory in terms of raw votes in 2004. And there is no doubt that county continues to be a financial gorilla for the party of Abe Lincoln and Ronald Reagan.

But GOP registration in OC has slipped since 2004, while Democratic registration is about flat. Percentage-wise, there are now eight other counties in California that have a larger portion of Republicans than Orange County, where 47 percent of all registered voters are with the GOP.

In 1999, GOP registration in the county slipped below 50 percent for the first time since 1984, and has continued creeping downward.

* In 2004, there were 724,260 (48.4%) Republicans in OC. There are now 714,895 (47%).

* In 2004, there were 452,694 (30.3%) Democrats in OC. Now, 459,408 (30.2%).

* Decline-to-state voters have increased from 17.3 percent to 18.7 percent during that period.

In 2001, OC lost its distinction of having the largest percentage of Republicans in the state. It now ranks ninth, behind Placer County (50.8%), Modoc (50.1%), Sutter (49.1%), Shasta (48.7%), Madera (48.6%), Tulare (47.8%), Kings (47.6%), and Kern (47.3%).

Alameda is the top Democratic county by percentage, at 55.1%. Although Democrats control the state, many smaller counties are GOP. Republicans have the advantage in 36 counties and Democrats in 21. Alpine County has a tie.

    It’s amusing to follow what’s happening at the national level, but the bottom line is that all politics are local. It’s time for South Orange County (from Irvine down to San Onofre, excluding Newport) to become the uber HOA called “Saddleback County” and for Bob Dornan to return to be our All American Leader. Republicans = 99%

    Meanwhile, North Orange County, with its skinheads, hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens and monthly feature on Cops, can stay “Orange County”. They should also have to take Newport and all of its millionaire crooks and the federally charged Sheriff and all of his women named Debbie. Democrats = 80%

    It sucks we’ll lose Disneyland sales tax revenue, but Disneyland ain’t what it used to be, we can turn Dana Point into more of a world class destination by adding Americas Cup racing and Monaco style gaming to the St. Regis and Montage, we can develop a “second Irvine” around Saddleback “University”, plus we can charge a toll on travel from San Diego County to Riverside County along the (soon to be extended) 241.

    Ron Paul 08

    The reasons are obvious. We feel abandoned by the Republican party at the national level. They fail to do anything about immigration, they push for NAFTA and the North American Union, the list goes on.

    Maybe the only thing that’ll wake them up is for us to give the country to the Democrats for the next term or two, and let the people see how bad it can really get.

    Thank God that moronic clown Bush is going to be gone. How bad it can really get. Michael are you completely blind. Clinton had 500 million in the surplus budget. Bush gave us a 6 trillion dollar debt. Bogus war. The republican administration should be up on charges of treason!!

    I think a great percentage of OC Republicans are turned off by President Bush’s Policies during the past 5 years. Many younger people growing up didn’t agree with G.W Bush and as a direct result disassociated themselves with the Republican party as a whole.

    Ron Paul is the only one candidate that brings people together. He is a true conservative and his values go back to the message of the Constitution. On top of that he is the only one from either candidate that will end the war now. That would be a win-win situation for Iraqis and Americans. Remember we are paying for this unnecessary war and it’s bankrupting our Nation. If you don’t believe that, take a look at the 5 year USD chart… We should also end this war because it is costing too many innocent lives. It’s sometimes “easy” for us here at home living comfortable lives to say that we should continue. Are you willing to give your life or the life of your loved one for an unnecessary war? If the answer is anything but yes you owe it to the troops and to all Iraqis to register Republican and vote for Dr. Ron Paul. There’s a reason Ron Paul is receiving the most support and donation from the Military. More than any other Candidate out of either party…
