Sheriff Mike Carona is behind bars.
The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed to the Register’s Rachanee Srisavasdi that Carona, his wife, Debbie Carona, and his former mistress, Debra Hoffman, are all in custody.
The three are being held in separate cells at the Ronald Reagan Federal Building and Courthouse in Santa Ana and will be booked this morning, the marshals service said.
After being booked, they will then await a 2 p.m. hearing.

How stupid is Carona? He should have had his mobster friend tell him that co-conspirators usually rat you out then wire up to get your incriminating staements on tape. Crappy cop and not much good as a crook either. And before you tree-hugger, ACLU lovin’, recycling hippies start, yes he is innocent until proven guilty BUT a Federal indictment usually means your bacon is pretty much fried. Gee nobody saw this one coming.

Au contraire, Retiredcop — the Hunt camapign was all about the corruption — which extends well into the OC GOP, with the likes of Jon fleishman, Mike Schroeder , Adam Probolsky, et. al. Just wait ’til the news breaks on the bogus $2 million photo-op, courtesy of the OC taxpayers — when Carona, tears in eyes, vowed the Samantha Runion killer ‘would not sleep - would not eat - would not rest ‘ in that Carona was on the hunt. Alejandro Avila was in custody within 3 hours of Runnion’s abduction, holed up in a motel room, under guard. And who was the architect of this staged outrage? Jo Ann Galinsky - an overwieght lesbian immediately promoted by Carona.
