Here’s the story I mentioned in the previous post, about the possible Brown Act violation by the Dana Point City Council in signing a resolution opposing the recall of Mayor Diane Harkey.
I previously posted a letter from the city attorney’s office saying there was no violation. If you read through the above linked story, you’ll see that Terry Francke — a long-time advocate of open meetings and public records — opines that it may indeed violate the law.

There can be no doubt that the intention of this bogus resolution was to make the public THINK that the City had taken an official position against the mayoral recall. Regardless of the outcome of the Brown Act violation suit which is likely to follow, this simple summation is the upshot. It’s just another deeply cynical attempt to manipulate the public by these ‘players’ on the Council, instead of upholding their responsibilities as elected officials. Their premise for being on the City Council was self-serving and manipulative from the start. No-one who voted for these characters should be whining now; I warned them.

Oh, and by the way, it all leads back to one person, the person who has engineered the ’self-serve’ approach to Dana Point politics today: DIANE HARKEY. The sooner this individual is thrown out of all politics for all time the better.
